Our family of 6, 2 adults and 4 children (under 12). At first we were a little nervous of the location, near the ferry terminal. But the resort itself was nice and our family enjoyed our 2 night stay. Very affordable for us as a last minute holiday idea. All the kids stayed for free. It was close to the... More

We stayed for a few days in August 2006 and it is extremely difficult to get there without your own car. Even the local taxi drivers either do not know where it is or are reluctant to take you there and the hotel does not provide any shuttle service and to get a taxi into Surfers costs about $40. There... More

My wife & I have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Chancellor Resort, Hope Harbour, and in the end were quite disappointed with the standards of this resort. I had not heard of the Chancellor Resort until recently, and assumed (wrongly) that the resort was quite new. Not even close. The resort looks tired, inside and out,... More

A very average "resort" which is undoubtably good value for families with 2 or more children all sharing the same room. However that arrangement may not suit others in the hotel who are seeking a romantic weekend or a peacefull holiday. The rooms are reasonably small and cheaply furnished and lack privacy. Most look direcly across the swimming pool into... More

Despite the former reviewer's comment we found The Chancellor Hope Harbour excellent value for money. She must have spent all her spare time watching the boat owner's walk to the public amentities. You don't go to Gold Coast to sit in your hotel room all day. This is the only hotel I could find which would sleep a family of... More

Under the old management this was an ideal getaway but now following change of ownership it can only be described as a caravan park with the marina filled with live on board people who constantly stroll about with the toiletries bags and towels looking for the showers. For an unmarket hotel this is a definite turn-off. Will we return the... More

I've stayed at many Grand Chancellor properties with somewhat mixed results. Hope Harbour is definitely one of the better ones. The property is nothing special (older fit-out and tiled floors), but for under $100 per night (web deal), it was good value. The location is quiet and secluded (if you want to explore, I'd advise you take a car, although... More

The property was an absolute surprise - pleasant one. Loved the Sunday entertainment (both the music and dancers). Location sensational. Staff very hospitable.
