We got the bedrooms on offer, at $99/night. It was well worth it. The scenery to wake up to, despite being in the Mount Cook Wing, was fantastic! We read about rooms that didn't have to good a view, but luckily for us the hotel was pretty vacant during our time (June) and yea it was great! There are very... More

Yes it's expensive but I'm so glad we did it. The views from our room were just amazing and we quickly forgot about the cost. Room was clean, well appointed and warm. Staff were very friendly here, always helpful. We didn't eat here because the cost was prohibitive for our family but took the advice of others and ate at... More

Had a one night stay and loved it. Most staff excellent and only let down by reception on arrival (I was ignored for 2 mins and only customer he was talking to another staff member who in the end pointed me out as waiting). I must admit the next time I spoke to them no issues. My highlight was the... More

My husband and I stayed at The Hermitage for 2 nights for our 7year wedding anniversary. The weather has been rain and clouds so our view of the mountains haven't been great. But the experience is worth it. We had snow today and the walks were great around the area. The service is amazing. Although the dining options are a... More

First visit to Mount Cook, unfortunately the weather was terrible, windy first day (so much wind that campervans were tipping over) and in the morning snow falling and although pretty it did stop us from walking to the glacier. We will have to come back. I was nervous at visiting after reading some of the reviews, but was really pleased.... More

The hotel itself was nice. We had a good room on the top floor with an incredible view of the mountains. The one excursion we got to go on was nice but everything costs money here. They try to upsell things the best they can but ultimately they have you and unless you want to hike or sit in your... More

This place was very nice and you pay for it and the location. The buffet dinner is $59 pp which was ridiculous. I've had better buffets for $5. They were very shady about the price and weren't exactly forthcoming either. We got upgraded to a superior suite and had wonderful views of Mt Cook. Our room was very nice, no... More

The view of Mount Cook at Sunrise is totally amazing. Don't forget to visit the Sir Edmond Hillary Centre. Rooms were comfortable. Restaurant for evening dinner has great ambience and breakfast buffet has extremely good variety.

My wife and I spent one night here as part of a getaway weekend from Christchurch. The weather at this time of year is always a bit unpredictable. We stayed in the older section of the hotel (4-floors) on the 3rd floor. The room had a nice view of the Mt Cook but unfortunately there was major cloud-cover the following... More
