Not up to YHA standard, is a share with BBH. One of the few places to stay in Waitomo. Right opposite black water rafting. Reception shut at 7, as we turned up 5 minutes before the receptionist refused to sell us Internet as she had 'packed up' in the night. Generally unfriendly staff. Bathrooms are ok. Double rooms are bunk... More

We were camping, so I can't comment on the beds, but nice big clean lounge with lovely open fire, well equipped communal kitchen, showers and toilets good. Quite a way from Waitomo itself, not an issue for us but could be for some. Cute pig and horses and pool that must be lovely in summer. The only negative point was... More

We stayed there for a night recently. The room is relatively small and there are only two toilets and one shower room (for ladies) on the ground floor for share. Long queue for the service in the morning as you can imagine. The room of the floor is a little bit dusted. What shocked us most was when we asked... More

Stayed in a twin room with a friend for a night. Room had a bunk bed - I actually found the mattress pretty comfortable for sleeping. Bedding very clean. My main complaint is the bathroom - shower was unpleasant and the bathmat was soaking and dirty - perhaps due to the small number of bathrooms shared between many people. Other... More

Nice and clean showers and additional door so that the campers do not have to go through main lobby every time; plus you are able to put you tent wherever you like. Good, fully equipped kitchen - you can use the refrigerator if you like. A bit far from the village though.

Stayed in Juno Hall for 2 nights purely for the Blackwater Caving across the street. Yes it's noisy and yes the kitchen can be a bit better stocked but it's clean and I personally didn't find the mattresses as uncomfortable as others suggest. It worries me that the girl on reception seems to do everything from cleaning to taking bookings.... More

I stayed here with as one of a group of 4. Thankfully we elected to stay just the one night prior to our Blackwater Rafting adventures. We arrived after reception had closed but we had been given instructions to get our key and this was all pretty straightforward. The room itself was of a good size but quite cold. I... More

Stayed here for one night whilst we visited the caves. The hostel itself is pretty average, reasonable sized living area, reasonable sized kitchen and shower facilities were ok. The location of the hostel in relation to the 'Black Water Rafting Co' is it's situated quite literally at the bottom of the entrance. It is however away from any kind of... More

The staff was very pleasant but the building poorly constructed. You can hear just about every footstep down the (long) hall and everybody's door slam late at night when you're trying to sleep. The accommodation here is very simple, Our double ensuite room had a couple of bunk beds and an average to small bathroom, the walls were all wood... More

I stayed here for 1 nighht and I wouldn't stay there again. Room was ok, a bit small but clean. Kitchen was terrible and there were all kind of bugs flying around and some bugs were dead on the plates etc.
