This was in my opinion not a 5 star hotel by any means. The food was excellent - definitely worth 4 stars and the little town of Montone is charming and relatively free of the hoards of tourists. La Locanda del Capitano is a beautiful place, run with flair, and care! The restaurant (servings on the terrace in the warm weather) is wonderful. The hotel and restaurant are a total surprise. Our room had windows on both walls, one set faced a courtyard terrace, and the main window faced a set of stairs, and a small courtyard.

Wonderful place, Montone and "La Locanda del Capitano are the best you can find in Umbria and for sure one of the most beautiful places in Italy. The "locanda" is perfect, the Chef Giancarlo Polito is the number 1. This is one of the places to visit. Excellent.
