Stayed in one of the motel rooms. Quiet but small room and the windows are back to front - large window for parking lot, tiny window for ocean. Plain breakfast. Ok value for money but nothing special (this review is for the motel - the B&B may be different) More

My mother and I arrived in Canso just as Hurricane Ophelia was making her presence known to the Cape Breton part of Nova Scotia. The Tourist Office in Port Hastings was very helpful and was able to get us Room 2 at this B&B. It was a stunning room with 2 double beds and lots of original (but well kept)... More

We stayed at the motel portion on our way back from Cape Breton. We had been planning on camping in Chetticamp but the weather convinced us otherwise. We made the unplanned drive into Port Hawkesbury and needed a bed for the night. We were shown a motel room and it suited us quite well for a place to bed down.... More

We needed a place to stay to begin our trip around the Cabot trail, looked on tripadvisor and found Harbourview B&B. We stayed for one night in the house in a large room with two beds. Not sure about the motels as we did not stay in them, but I would expect the same great experience. The B&B is a... More

Spent 3 days here, a really friendly family run motel/B+B, great value and wonderful service. we stayed in the motel rooms, all newly refurbed. Great hosts, a really good home cooked breakfast. Location by the harbour, a railway nearby, but just more fun as the infrequent trains pass. Near enough to the town to use the restaurants and shops, particularly... More

We had a very nice overnight stay in one of their motel rooms. Pros: Very clean, comfortable bed, some water views, great breakfast and warm hosts (the Spencers) in lovely old home on the water. Cons: small kitchenette but not stocked with any cups, utensils, etc. Railroad runs behind this location but we did not hear a train until 9... More

located only steps from the operational wharf. Good for people how like the maritime atmosphere and looking at boats / ships. Quiet during nite time. 6 Motel units and a few B&B-rooms in an historic house. Breakfast was for ALL (B&B + Motel) in a large dining room. Tenant always brought new food / tea / coffee. Friedly staff &... More

We stayed here for one night on our way from North Sydney to PEI. The place is sort of a Victorian type home and is located in a pleasant neighborhood with a view of the harbor. We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms with the bathroom being accessible from the hallway and not from our room. The place has... More

The Harbourview is a nice, quiet old house. (There's a motel part too, but we stayed in the Bed & Breakfast proper.) Beautifully maintained and furnished. It's like staying in someone's home (someone who maintains a nice house!). The bedroom we stayed in was on the 2nd floor and wasn't especially private - the bathroom wasn't shared, but was just... On a long planned Labor Day week end trip to Nova Scotia, we contacted the Harbourview B & B and Motel in Port Hawkesbury on Breton Island based on the TripAdvisor reviews. TA enthused further that for $54/ night we would have quite a wonderful place to stay and eat. Calling over a day early on our own dime (no... More
