The owner was very friendly and helpful, even picked us up so we wouldn't have to carry our bags a short distance up the hill. Nice views across to Isle Skye, and we were lucky to see fabulous sunsets from the B&B. Huge cooked breakfast. More

Lovely en suite room, a great breakfast and well-priced. Ben is a super host - he gave us the most in-depth introduction to the B&B and the town of Mallaig, offered all kinds of advice, and drove us to the station on the day we left. Excellent service. Thanks Ben. More

I stayed with Family (of an infant and a young brat) at Ben's place; and the fact that minute details around our comfort were taken care of, served as cherry on the top. THe view from the Family room is amazingly breathtaking; and does justice to the whole place itself. Ben himself is a brilliant host and the brief encounter... More

The room was rather fussy, with various gadgets around, some of which did not work. Our host was very friendly and helpful, and too much so for us generally (but in one specific we are very grateful to him). Quite a hilly walk to town - but good for us! More

From the moment we arrived we were looked after really well. Ben was a great host and understood how to cater for vegetarians. The room was a bit small but comfortable and clean. The B&B was a five minute uphill walk from Mallaig town centre and had a wonderful view from the veranda at the front. We would definitely stay... More

Ben is an attentive host and a very nice man - if slightly overwhelming - whose breakfasts concentrate on quantity rather than quality, though the porridge was good. We had a nice room looking across to Rum and Eigg, with one of my pet hates - a TV that's so high up on the wall that it's painful to watch... More

Shalimar is a good B&B, just a short walk from downtown Mallaig. Ben is a delightful host. He made reservations and drove us to the restaurant. The rooms are nicely decorated, the bathrooms large and modern. Breakfast was good, coffee made to suit each individual. More

My cousin and I stayed at Shalimar for one night and were very pleased! Ben picked us up at the station and after showing us around in the house he dropped us off at the restaurant. He's an excellent host and deserves only the highest rating! Thank you, Ben! More

Ben is an awesome host, visited with my auntie (her 3rd visit to Shalimar & my 2nd) welcomed with a hug, it felt like we were staying with family :) We were lucky enough to be invited out on Ben's boat and it was my favourite day of the 5 day trip! Saw some seals rather close, and was especially... More
