Stayed 1night when walking Offa's Dyke. Very friendly and welcoming, bedroom and bathroom newly updated. Bonus being on the route, providing food and having a bar. The pub effect was like a lounge with a bar insitu, complete with wood burner.

An outside tap was great to wash off the tons of mud sticking to us!!! A large drying room was also great for all of our sweaty damp gear. A spacious room with a bathroom next door. OK the water was only lukewarm. These are good digs. Our landlady was lovely a smashing host. she is assisted by a nice... More

After a long, wet days' walking our welcome from Sandra was warm and appreciated as was the drying room and bottle of beer. We ordered some home cooked food and the next days packed lunch both of which were lovingly prepared by Sandra. Things took a turn for the worse when we asked about the local pub. The landlord (who... More

I disagree with many things in this review. These are just a few of the discrepancies. There were four young men, not three and they were the ones who were drinking. They had drank 4 pints of beer each by 9pm and then went to the pub. We telephoned the pub at ten past midnight (not any earlier) as we... More

A great palce to stop on the Dyke between Hay On Wye and Monmouth. It is 20 metres from the path and there is nothing else in the area. The welcome from Sandra was superb and she was very friendly throughout our stay. The room was fairly large althought he decor was a bit dated. The Lancaster closed as a... More

All round just about perfect. We arrived wet and tired. The drying room was needed, as was the bar and the meal and the excellent bedroom. All round an excellent B&B that we will return to.

This is an ex-pub, which still has a nice bar-like atmosphere to it. Run by a nice couple who kept us entertained with friendly banter and served us very nice home-cooked food. They even collected us from a couple of miles away, and made us a nice packed-lunch for our departure. Rooms were clean and well equipped.

We had walked nearly 20 miles from Monmouth, through all sorts of weather, when we arrived tired and bedraggled at the guest-house. A friendly welcome and a refreshing real ale started the recovery process. The evening meal was delicious, breakfast was just what we wanted and we had a lovely packed lunch ready for our walk over Hay Bluff. From... More

Sandra, the owner was very welcoming. Entering the lounge it looks just like the pub it used to be. It became a B&B exclusively 4 years ago, Sandra has kept the license for residents use only so after a long walk we were able to relax in our rooms then just walk down the stairs to our own private bar....
