I took my mum here for her birthday (May 2013). Just one comment really, I ordered the pork and they had no apple sauce. They had run out. I felt disappointed that a restaurant of this calibre could not provide basic condiments!

This is a review for the bar and restaurant area of the hotel. We arrived for a basic lunch on a sunny bank holiday, ordered a sandwich and a wrap and was instructed of a 30 minute wait...for a sandwich. The waitress (&none of the staff) were able to raise a smile, even to thank us for the order. One... More

I used the bear for a business trip and found it to be top noch really, the location is good with lots of pubs/restaurants within walking distance and the hotel offers good food and beers. the room was clean and tidy and had a good shower (which is most of what i look for in a room). Breakfast was great... More

Christine and I were joined by our close friend, Ken & Jenny Hayward, from Fordingbridge as Jenny was showing us around her home in Wales, which was the small village of St. Hilary just a few miles from Cowbridge. We stayed in one of their 'flats/apartments' and were totally impressed. Two BR, living room, kitchen, etc., which was beautifully furnished... More

We didn't stay at the hotel as we live only a few miles away in a neighbouring county but we did visit the restaurant. The restaurant area at the rear of the old hotel is atmospheric with its low vaulted stone ceiling. The tables are nicely spaced giving an amount of privacy without isolating diners. The service was excellent. Our... More

We hired the Georgian Ball room for a significant birthday party for my wife, and I must say that it would be impossible to fault the service and help that the staff gave us and our family over that weekend. We had almost 50 guests and all of them said that they had enjoyed the weekend and that the Bearhotel... More

Very centrally placed hotel with it's own car park at the rear. We were lucky to be given an upgraded room as the hotel was quiet and the room we were given was large and beautifully decorated and even had a four poster bed. The weather was bitterly cold but the room was warm and comfortable. The en suite was... More

I stayed here on a business trip and it was all I could want. The hotel staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The room was nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable. The en suite was a good size. I had an evening meal which was nicely presented, I wish I hadn't chosen what turned out to be something like... More

If you need to stay close to Cardiff airport for a period of time I would not hesitate to recommend the Bear Hotel in Cowbridge. It is about a 10-12 min drive but gets you into a very nice little town with excellent pubs, shops and resturants. Make the Bear your base and you wont be disappointed.
