I had stayed here once before with a friend, and more recently for two nights on 11th and 12th May 2012. The hotel is truly unique - the rooms which overlook a beautiful courtyard, are very quaint, clean and I loved the decor - really quite romantic and the beds were very comfy. We ate in the restaurant for one... More

Fabulous weekend had by 3 generations of same family. Hotel loved by all - a warm welcome from our hosts Janie & Patrick, making us feel very comfortable and very much at home! The children particularly liked the 'Alice in Wonderland' feel of the quirky walls, stairs and corridors! Beds were ornate and very comfortable. It's a place steeped in... More

We booked on 21.04.2012 for a visit from 28. to 30.04.12 as we had been let down by another Hotel in Montreuil. Booking.com clearly stated our credit card would be used to guarantee booking. When wanting to pay I was told they had debited my credit card about a weel before our arrival although the Booking.com Web site clearly stated... More

35 of us descended on the Hotel de France for Carol's Big Day - a trip for her best friends to mark the occasion of her 40th year at SImon Langton Girls' Grammar School. We had the most fantastic lunch, all freshly prepared and superb value. I cannot thank Janie and Patrick enough for making this such a special day... More

There is not a straight wall or floor, so do not expect a dull square box, use your imagine nation. The rooms are basic but comfy beds, plenty of very hot water in the morning.Reception area perfect for sitting having a drink, coffee or just relaxing. Would love to go back in the heart of summer and see the courtyard... More

We walked past on 17 February. The building was closed and a sign said it was up for sale. It is in a nice location but has looked terribly run down for several years. We have not stayed there but did once have a dinner there which we never repeated.

The location of the hotel is beautiful. I enjoy quaint, unique and original - this hotel is none of those things. The court yard is uncared for. When you step inside you see that the wallpaper is hanging from the walls. There is a strong smell of dampness which is not disguised by the plug in deodorizers. The rooms are... More

What a wonderful place! One of the world's truly unique hotels. If you're planning on visiting Montreuil, this really should be your first choice. A charming, historic, one-of-a-kind-oasis in a charming historic town. Like the town itself, this is a very special place, not your typical hotel but absolutely overflowing with character and a sense of timelessness that you're unlikely... More

I stayed in the Hotel and truely loved the entire feel of the position within the town.....but I have read all the reviews and I can only confirm that the Hotel is shabby, run down and in very bad need of love care and attention...it is really unfortunate there is only one lady cleaning and doing every other chore that the... If you like your hotels dirty, noisy and overpriced then this is the place for you! Had this been a back-packers' hostel, charging $35 a night, then I'm sure we could have turned a blind eye to the dirt, loose wires hanging from the walls, smell of sewage in 2 of our 3 bedrooms, a shower propped up on bricks...
