What a fantastic time we had in this rabbit warren with lots of R&R areas to hang out and relax after a long drive and then after a long walk. The lounge was very comfortable. We didn't see the kids as they were so busy. Bryan couldn't do enough for us. I highly recommend the family units - great value,... More

We've stayed there in February, we had an amazing time there. The property is huge and you have a lot of activities to do : paintball, flying fox, watching tv and movies in the secret room, relaxing in the spa pool, playing pool or enjoying a few beers by the fire place. The owners are great and they'll help you... More

Owner MIA, other staff highly unfriendly and unco-operative, only interested in making sure they had a drink in their hands, bathrooms not cleaned on the Saturday or Sunday, terrible water pressure, room had a musty smell, very thin walls so we could hear everything going on next door as well as the trains. Definitely not what was expected. We won't... More

This accomodation (double ensuite) offered probably the highest value/cost ratio of all hostels we stayed during our 1-month NZ-trip. We really regretted that our schedule didn´t allowed us to stay for more than two nights. It is a pitty that this hostel is relatively difficult to find as it is not included on most servers if you are searching accomodation... More

Ok, this place is VERY interesting because you either absolutely love it or hate it based on what you expected in the first place, so let me tell you exactly what to expect so you know whether it's for you before giving it a chance. DO NOT expect locks on your doors to keep your fancy jewelery and underwear safe,... More

We had a great time staying here! Had all the right facilities as well as things you wouldn't expect to be included for such a low cost. Beds and kitchen were perfectly fine, and there was also Sky television, a spa, drying room, paintball and an area to skate! Ideal!

On initial inspection, the backpacker's was scruffy and pretty basic but not too bad. However, when we returned to our twin room that night, we found there was no way of locking our bedroom door from the inside (only from the outside), in addition to which, none of the entrances to the lodge were locked/lockable. When we pointed this out... More

Mice in our room during the night, no toilet paper in woman's toilet, limited cooking facilities and extremely rude staff. Very disappointing.

That's the last straw, we have 3 cats and they are all fired!! we have 27 communal toilets, cleaned & stocked every day, I have the largest toilet rolls on the market, this seems unforgivable that we run out occasionally so I have positioned a staff member at every toilet, they are armed with toilet rolls and highly trained to... Unfortunately we were fooled by the website. We booked a double ensuite room for 2 nights. When we arrived we were told there was a room but no key available - not a good start. Despite the website's claims that the heating system was second to none and there were ample hot showers we had a drafty room without any... More

As the owners Miriam and I can't help but be dissapointed in your comments, to fool you was not our intention, the lodge is greatly improved from what it was a few short years ago when we purchased, it was built in the 60s by hard kiwi mountain men who never gave insulation a moments thought! every day we are...
