The Tree House at Wood Pigeon Lodge is really an architectural beauty with spectacular views and complete privacy. The cabin is perched on a wooded hill close to Tongariro National Park with views of all three volcanoes. Despite the absolute quiet and isolation it is easy to find and handy to the park, making it an ideal base for the... More

Its always a pleasure as a local to find somewhere that is so full of charm, character, comfort and great service. We stayed two nights as a family in "The Barn", which was simply perfect. It is absolutely charming inside, having been obviously lovingly put together by Tim and Ewan who are the hosts to this collection of three places... More

We booked The Tree House for 2 nights in April. Hands down, this is the best vacation rental in the Tongariro area. The house was spacious for my husband, myself and our 9 year old son. The view from the deck is amazing. The furnishings are all mid-century modern and beautiful. It had everything we needed and if you need... More

We stayed in the Hut and it was absolutely beautiful, peaceful and very magic. Wonderful views, quite, private and friendly hosts. Would definitely recommend! Great location really close to the Tongariro crossing and skiing nearby. Bring goodies with you as you won't want to "go out"

I stayed here in the Barn with a group of friends as we attended a local event. Exceeded my expectations, was warm, lovely surroundings with comfy beds and a great shower. Will try and stay again. I thought it may be a little loud as it is near the main trunk line, but nothing was heard except the native birds... More

This really is a magical place - staying in the Hut feels like dropping into a older, quieter, richer time and place. Vintage furniture and kitchen accesories, views to pastures and volcanoes beyond, bird song and baaing lambs, the perfume of freshly cut garden flowers, The bed is very comfortable, the shower hot and with good pressure, the kitchen equipped... Wonderful location, peaceful, best views and total privacy. Highlight was the Bush Bath nestled in the native bush with lambs baaing in the field next door. The Hut was just perfect for us, well kitted out, great not to have TV but a fabulous deck and windows to really soak up the views and hear the birds every morning. Was... More

We stayed in the Barn (which sleeps at least eight) and our traveling companion styed in the Hut. Both are delightful accommodations roughly but thoughtfully furnished with period fridges and stoves (and a modern microwave!) plus at the Barn there is an outdoor grill. Tim and Ewan are terrific hosts and we spent quite some time one evening chatting with... More

We knew this was gonna be the highlight of our trip and it only was confirmed. We were very much looking forward to the hut and in reality, the place was even better than on the pictures. Just imagine a little heavenly place on the top of a hill, that gets light first and last in the day, with an... More

Planned to do the Tongariro Crossing 2 mums and 3 girls - Dec 2011 - weather turned nasty so ended up doing the Taranaki Falls and the Tama Lakes instead. Still a great experience. . The Barn was fabulous - beautiful views and very cosy. Tim lit a fire for our return and was a perfect host. The homemade marmalade... More
