Location is great right at the bottom of the high street and near the two railway lines. Tesco supermarket 1 minute walk away. Lots of eateries around so spoilt for choice although you aren't allowed takeaways in the room so couldn't bring any food back. Free unlimited wifi in the bedrooms as well as public areas. The 'flat screen' tvs... More

We already had accommodation booked or we probably would have tried for a room in the hotel. However we ate dinner on 2 separate evenings and it was delicious both times. The 'home made' soup was delicious and a meal in itself served with a generous helping of fresh bread. The Welsh lamb was to die for and I would... More

A spacious, comfortable room with good reading lights, fast Wifi, decent biscuits with in-room tea/coffee/ chocolate, cooked breakfast from an accomplished kitchen, very friendly staff, extreme cleanliness, windows that can open...., a desk, table and chairs in the bay windows, pretty blue and white decor, excellent toiletries...; it's hard to imagine a better refuge, though there is a very complimentary... I stayed at this hotel for business. The hotel is centrally located in Porthmadog but does seem to b dated. I didn't eat in the hotel but had a few drinks in the bar. The room was ok but on the front of the property meaning it was noisy, there was also a flag flapping outside in the wind. There... More

Having seen this hotel on " 4 in a bed" we thought it would be ideal for one night. We had stayed 2 nights in The Imperial Hotel" in Llandudno, 1 night in the Premier Inn in Caernarvon and traveled on the Welsh Highland Railway to Porthmadog finishing our journey the following day on the train to Birmingham. Reception was... More

Obviously we are disappointed that this customer's expectations were not met but quite frankly, when a customer has champagne tastes and wants to pay beer bottle money, I am not surprised. This customer booked through a third party on line site with the cheapest room excluding breakfast and, in our letter of confirmation, it cleatly states that there would be... More

The food is fantastic. Look forward to staying again... More

Very nice old hotel (so no lift). The room was large, warm and spotless. The bathroom was pristine and warm. The staff were extremely helpful and the food was good - particularly the home-made marmalade at breakfast! I would have welcomed a fish dish or two on the Classics menu, but as the food is made to order, the chef cooked... More

If you take the Welsh Highland Railway from Caernarfon to Porthmadog and return, the timetable allows approximately only 1hr 45minutes at Porthmadog which means there is no a lot of time for lunch. This is a pity since there is much to see. However, good lunch venues in Porthmadog are few. We booked a table at the Royal Sportsman and... More
