This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Just had one night here and really enjoyed it. The breakfast was delicious (my choice was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon), plenty of tea, coffee fresh fruit. The place also has a communal sitting room with tea & coffee making facilities complete with jam and home-made scones.

We have just returned from spending a few days at Chare Close, where we were made very welcome by our hosts Nick and Annette. Nothing was too much trouble. A friend and I stayed here (3 nights) to visit Hadrian's Wall and other locations in the area. I have no hesitation in recommending Chare Close: clean, spacious rooms, welcoming hosts and good breakfasts. Handy too for the town centre - eat at the Black Bull!

We stayed here while seeing Hadrian's Wall and couldn't have asked for a better location or hosts. We were warmly greeted and offered afternoon cake. The room was a good size with a large ensuite bathroom. Vegetarians are catered for at breakfast, which was generous and tasty. We very much enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others.
