Travelling to Portugal with three children, we really looked forward to living in Pousadas. Our experience in Arraiolos was excellent (see review). However, at Santiago do Cacem arriving on the dangerously unkept road we had a foreboding of what was to come....If this had been a relatively cheap Pousada, its "ex-olive farm" feeling would have had some charm. Like most poussadas in Portugal, this is off the beaten track. This is the third of three poussadas we stayed at during our visit. The surrounding town is not very exciting.
