Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed on the 1st floor, facing the front, which wasn't too bad. The room is spacious and quite nice, although the air conditioning is a bit too loud. The fridge is inconsistent, sometimes cold and sometimes warm, and I'm not sure why. There's a strong smell in the bathroom, possibly from the flush toilet or the nearby drainage. The pool is decent, and they offer free bicycle use. However, there isn't much to do in the downtown area, and there aren't many attractions in the city. It's advisable to book a place by the beach or closer to your destination for a better experience.

We stayed here during a road trip from Bangkok to Phuket. I will say straightaway that we are not in the first flush of youth, and generally stay in pretty high-end places. So we were a bit nervous about staying here, given some of the reviews. We need not have worried. This was a lovely little place, the rooms were big and quiet, and the pool was great. The staff were friendly, and for the price it was amazing value. They could do with brightening up the restaurant, but otherwise we were more than happy with our stay here, and would certainly recommend it to anyone who needs somewhere to stay the night before moving on.

We arrived close to midnight. Staff greeted us well and were polite. Our room on the 3rd floor was spacious, shower had really good water pressure. It was a quiet night. To my surprise, I was awaken at dawn by the birds chirping and when I drew the curtains which I couldn’t bring myself to do at the wee hours, there was a spacious balcony overlooking a nice pool surrounded by lovely flowered trees and the coffee house. The room wall paint which looked a little strange and unfinished at night, was actually a combination styled of white and grey paint, concrete looking. Creepy vibes I had the night before was for nothing. Yes, the overall maintenance and cleanliness could be improved but at the rate you’re paying, it’s definitely value for money.

Avoid Chalicka Resort - A Disappointing Nightmare!!!!!! After a long drive from Bangkok, hoping for a tranquil and clean place to rest, we chose Chalicka Resort based on supposedly positive reviews. However, upon arrival, any optimism immediately evaporated. The place was a disorganized mess, screaming for maintenance. Begging for a quiet room turned into a never-ending ordeal, culminating in a 10-minute hike from the parking area just to get a key. Instead of peace, they stuck us next to the pool's deafening equipment, far from ideal for a good night's sleep. Entering the room, the stench of sewage hit us like a brick wall. Requesting a different room was met with a ridiculous ultimatum: either tolerate the foul smell and dysfunctional AC or venture out into the night to find alternative accommodations. Their boasted Wi-Fi? A complete sham, compounding the misery of the situation. Don't fall for the false advertising—I've lost all faith in those positive reviews. This nightmare at Chalicka Resort in Chumphon, Thailand, was a disgrace. Save yourself the trouble and heed the multitude of negative reviews that highlight the multitude of reasons to avoid this dump. ---

Huge room and balcony, clean and well equipped, all for a very affordable room rate...this hotel is a hidden gem! The restaurant here was good too, with an inexpensive menu with lots of choice...the pool was clean and had a few loungers...wish I could stay longer :-)

I stayed in a bungalow for 3 nights. The room was well-appointed and had an outdoor shower area and a separate tub. It also came with a breakfast buffet for only $23 a night! They have an on-site restaurant and pool. A motorbike can be rented for 250 THB. A great offer, considering that there aren’t much transportation option when traveling around the city. Although located in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle, it’s still a walking distance from what the city center has to offer.

This is a rundown old resort, even door knobs are the ancient wooden type. TV never able to be switched on. Full of dust and mouldy smell. Road in and out also tricky, there is one particular lane beware it has a hole and hit cars which are sedans. Not true as review score by guest. Needs a lot of improvement. Only positive would be the staffs who are friendly and willing to help

Making our way down the coast, we decided to stay here for 3 nights after a train trip from Hua Hin. This hotel seemed the best located not far from the town, about 10 min walk actually although they offer complimentary bycles which we used a couple of times as well as hired a scooter for a day. 7eleven not far at all. Hotel setting was lovely actually creating a somewhat jungle feel. Pool was a good size and clean. Cafe on site was really quant with pretty good coffee. We are vegetarian and also do not eat onion and garlic and they were able to adjust some items on the menu for us and must say we're delicious. We ate here every night. The pricing is not expensive and reasonably priced as well as beers and drinks. Breakfast is provided here. Its fairly basic but enough variety of Western and Asian. How much can yiu eat anyway. We booked the cheapest standard room. It was Standard but pretty good and clean for the price inclusive of breakfast. Lets say, compared to some Motels back in Australia, it was way better and way cheaper. The only cons was these rooms did not have in room safe, the bed a little hard, only thai channels on tv and no coffee and tea provided, only kettle and cups. We didn't ask for any though as we had our own. Rooms above looked bigger as they have a balcony and they have Villas that looked really nice. The town is about 30 minute drive to the ferry pier. We are glad that we didn't book accommodation close to the pier as that area looked a bit distant from anything. The staff were really lovely and very helpful even booking our ferry tickets at no extra charge. I am pretty sure you are able to book other tours ect.. if you needed. In a nutshell, it was a pleasant, clean, convenient and cheap place fir a stopover or short stay.

Really cool place to stay it feels as if you’re in the jungle. Staff really nice and the restaurant on site is lovely. Location isn’t far from the train station which was good. Upgraded to a larger room for 200 baht and was really big room with a big balcony!
