Absolutely everything you could want. Chose Makuti because the reviews on trip advisor made it sound like a perfect plase to sit and read and relax and it totally delivered. Prisitine beach, great food, really quiet - only two other guests there over the Easter long weekend. The staff was super-helpful in arranging tours, etc. Being able to watch the... More

This was just a wonderful place to relax. It is so quiet and peaceful and the owner Peter is great. This may just have been our room but the design of the bed was flawed so that mosquitoes could fly underneath the netting because the bed has 4 high wooden posts on its corners. These mosquitoes had a feast on... More

Our second stay at Makuti was a relaxing as the first. Welcoming staff, lovely beach, delicious meals, and quality sleep. Perfect for a quiet weekend of reading in hammocks or a romantic getaway.

We stayed here for five nights in the last week of February, and could not have been happier. The location is ideal -- literally you walk out the door from your bungalow in the morning and out onto the sand, with the beach immediately in front of you. The owners and their staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, and helped... More

We booked an accommodation up the beach (Crazy Mzungo's) on the strength of their charming photos. However the reality of Mzungo's was very basic (backpackers) at an unreasonably expensive rate. We de-camped from there and booked into Makuti after Peter showed us around. This move made our holiday! The accommodation is gloriously simple, clean and quaint. What makes it is... More

I stayed here for a week when the whole island was going through an electrical upgrade. Mostly there was no power... just generators for cooking and oil lamps at night. I gotta say I am glad I was at the small place and not the huge resorts who were running generators constantly. And I have to stay the FOOD WAS... More

hi me and my wife have just spent 2 weeks at the makuti beach Hotel.i can see that there has been a bad write up about about the place and its people, but in all honesty you must judge for your self. Our experience was a good one.The hotel is a little paradise on a sandy beach, with a cool trade wind that... I have spent a week in this marvellous location and it has been a wonderful experience. We have been snorkelling in Blue Lagun, which is something I would hardly recommend to everyone. Stone Town is without any doubt a must- seeing. There is a maze to discover behind the “zanziberian” carved doors that we decided to waste another day there.... More

We had an absolutely HORRENDOUS experience at this hotel and want to share this so that you don't make the same mistake as us... There are no safes in rooms and so my boyfriend and I hid our money in a zip up compartment in our suitcase. We left our key at reception and went out for the day and,... More
