Nice, clean and spacious villas at an extremely reasonable price compared to other places in Zanzibar! Good service. Food not all that great but a good experience overall.

After a beautiful vacation in Zanzibar and Pemba we were very disapointed in our stay at Baharini Villas in Matemwe. The bungalows were dimly lit and the bed had springs sticking out. Luckly for us there were few mosquitos on the beach as the net did not fully cover the bed and had numerious large holes in it. The bathroom...

We've been in august 2011, me and girlfriend. It has been one of the best week in all my holidays. Very comfortable rooms, good maid service, very tasty kitchen, chefs are italian!! Sea in front of you, exposed by east so you can see wonderful dawn. Perfect if you search for a quiet and relaxing place.
For the price, the bungalows are reasonable value for over-priced Zanzibar. The room was clean, nutrally decorated, comfortable bed, good mozzy net, nice bathroom etc. The pool and gardens were lovely. Our one complaint is the service from the 2 (local) zombie-like girls int he restaurant. It seemed to us that unles you speak Italian, the service you receive is...

I'm travelling with children so it is really important for me to find hotels that are suitable for kids. Baharini Villas did have a pool, the hotel was just right at the beach and the surroundings were ok. The rooms were clean although they seemed to be only half finished; the walls were a bit dirty, the book shelf with...

We got a good deal in the low-season. Simple lodges, but OK considering what we paid.
But what is a good price if you go home in a body bag?
The staff seemed friendly enough, the same did the manager. My experience is that they normally are if there are no problems.
The electric wiring and maintenance (plugs, air-condition etc)...

We spent fours days in Matemwe Baharini Villas in Feb 2009. The hotel is very nice with with nice bungalows and a nice restaurant. The pool is very fresh and well maintained. The location is superb with an excellent white beach with palmtrees. Though there is normally much tide, so depending on when you are going you might have to...

Secluded, quiet beach cottages and duplexes with an attached restaurant. The rooms were clean and nicely renovated. We shared a very airy, pleasant common room and kitchen with another couple.
The restaurant was very welcoming with a great view onto the ocean. Local men and women from the neighbouring fishing village, fish from dhow boats and collect seaweed along the...
