I stayed in the Matterhorn South for 3 weeks and I just loved the place. A hostel with very nice atmosphere, in the hart of the town, helpful management and cosy rooms. You can see that the focus of the location is not the money-making, the manager really cares about quality, cleanness and order.

Clean, tidy, super friendly! Right in the centre, close to all amenities, Toby at reception was more than happy to advise us on activities and little town secrets as well as making sure we were comfortable. Reasonably priced. Good to have kitchen facilities available.

What a beautiful setting. Close to all the attractions of wanaka. Only a minute from the supermarket and bars. Its not cheap but in saying that it was the least expensive hostel in the town with other hostels quoting us prices ranging from $3~$5 more per person. Its small and clean and its got a hot tub. Stayed in the lodge ensuite accommodation, it's good value for wanaka, but that is relative to the high cost of accommodation there. The location is excellent, being one block from the main street. This is by far one of the best hostels I have stayed in. It has a small homley feel and the managers are so friendly. People come for a day and stay for weeks. If you come to Wanaka stay here you wont regret it!
