Auberge 's position is not good as too far out of town, views OK, food extremely ordinary, dining room/reception grotty, cabins very basic, beds hard, linen old and worn, rubbish outside not cleared since who knows when! Not a nice place to stay!

Spent 2 nights here. First let me say the accommodation is in a wonderful location. But that is the only positive I have to say. The place needs urgent renovations. The water temperature of the shower was either hot or cold. The towels were thin and the tap on the sink was very lose - a handyman would have fixed... More

In a pine wood, up a long track, little individual cabins and lovely grounds. All the potential for being charming. However the room was tired, chairs with stuffing coming out, the grounds had litter, dinner was expensive (and, as it is so out of town you had to eat there) and not very good eg chicken with gristle. Breakfast was... More

This place is not luxury, no spa, no five stars. But it is quaint, food was good and the staff was most friendly. They even make fire for you in the bungalow and the surrounding forest makes a nice setting. The road to Phonsavan is rough, but it 's well worth the ride.

We were told that the hotel was first class and came complete with air conditioning plus all the other extras which normally go with this category of hotel. We arrived on a freezing cold evening . Our hearts sank as we viewed the dilapidated state of our cabin complete with its cold water tap in the bathroom sink. There was... More

We were told this was very nice by all the guide books. Don,t believe them. It is a dump. Rooms cold and falling apart. Beds horrible. Sheets damp and musty. Just warm water from showers. Staff try hard but owner needs to spend a lot of money. Best if he demolished and started again. Restaurant menu very limited and expensive.... More

We loved this place very much because of the charming, rustic feeling. The staff is not only friendly, but also competent. The food was tasty though the choice was not huge. The best of all was the chalet with a real fireplace inside - where the staff will even light fire for us. The views are relaxingly green, the lobby... More

This hotel has very little to recommend it. In poor state of repair, the cabins we stayed in shook when anyone moved, the stairs were rotting, the deck had fallen off, cracks in the floorboards, cold water only in basin, the water in shower only warm. It was freezing the nights we stayed. No coffee for breakfast-had run out they... More

A draught through every window. A creak from every door. Meagre food and badly cooked. "Do you mean you want some more?" Disintegrating staircase. Cold water faucet basin. Garbage on all the pathways. No tea or coffee making. Worse! No phone to call the boss, Who don't seem to give a toss. If you liked Boot Camp - you'll love... More

There are three good things to say about this place, the willingness of the charming staff, the fireplaces and the view. Apart from the nice, reasonably priced carafe of wine unfortunately dinner was a deep disappointment. Husband’s filet steak was more of a minute steak and had not been trimmed of the nasty bits but the vegetables were fine if... More
