Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is old and not maintained properly. Internet was very slow, furniture broken, lamps in the shower and heating system not functioning. Also rooms were not made up - without notification. Overall the worst place I ever stayed

History, architecture and amazement all around. We were greated by a very freindly employee who shared the history of the hotel. Our room was spectacular. We can not wait to go back. Best hotel in Buffalo hands down!

Helpful staff, great location. Big snowstorm shut down nearly all businesses. A travel ban was in effect. The staff was helpful in navigating the logistics, always professional and friendly. I would stay here again, especially to see the area in the summer.

I was not warned beforehand and the heating was out for the entire hotel for our stay. I was at a friends wedding and it made the event a bit extra challenging to keep warm. Which is just something extra you don't want to have to worry about for an event like that.

Shower sprays into main part of bathroom and you have to use a towel to stop the water from leaking into the bedroom. There is no door on the shower stall.Internet was slow by hotel standards and kept dropping however getting connected was relatively easy.

The hotel is beautiful and unique, just a 15 minute walk to Key Bank Center. Bed was very comfortable, loved the architecture of the building. We ate in the hotel restaurant, food was very good. ONLY complaint, our floor in the room could have been cleaner.

Please don’t stay here. The room was rundown, (stains, broken tiles, curtains that did not fit, etc.) there were fruit flies in my room and the noise from guests next door and in the hall in the middle of the night was really bad. When I asked to change rooms I was told they could not move me because they did not have authorization to do so.

A beautiful historic hotel right in the heart of Buffalo was a real treat for us to celebrate our 34th anniversary. Built in 1902, with modern upgrades, but keeping the overall majestic charm you will feel at awe here. The price is half of what you would pay for a modern hotel nearby, but won't have that same feel. We felt completely safe and even parked on the street over night even though there is a paid indoor ramp a few blocks away. We walked to the Hofbrau House for dinner and dancing which is only 15 minute walk and completely safe. in the evening we had some friends join us in the bar at the hotel. It is amazing with a huge fireplace, game rooms and large bar area to relax at. In the morning we walked to the McKinley Monument and City Hall. There are several historical buildings to explore. Loved our stay and will be back.

Great hotel. Awesome king suite we stayed in (real cool character to it and on a split level). The blackout curtains actually blocked out light! First time I've had that in a hotel room. Friendly and helpful staff. Only downside is no parking/valet, but there is a parking garage very close with a close walk ($13 overnight rate).

room was ok but not worth price that they charge. no parking is very inconvenient; having to constantly feed the meter every few hours was very annoying or alternative was paying to park in parking garage several blocks away; says there is room service but no informaiton/menus room needs deep cleaning - it was ok but definitely not a place I'd return to
