Deep in the country and difficult to find; no signs. Beautiful lush flint hill setting with walking trails, fish pool, and pond (old quarry) across the road. Lovable mixed breed dog greets you; well mannered, doesn't jump. My upstairs room was comfortable and had its own small but complete bath (part of renovation.) Candy dish stuffed with "goodies" and appropriate... More

This warm and cozy house felt like a home away from home the moment we arrived and that feeling only grew the longer we were there. The house, countryside, and town of Cottonwood Falls were a welcome break from stressful loves and allowed for an intimate and relaxing weekend away. Our hostess, Billie, was welcoming, friendly, and makes the best... More

If you like old houses, you'll like the 1874 Stonehouse. The bedrooms have been updated with modern, private bathrooms. The beds are soft and lush. We were accidentally put in the wrong room, but it was an upgrade and we weren't charged the upgrade. It was a lovely place for us to spend our 40th anniversary. We enjoyed the walking... More

We really enjoyed the pond, feeding the fish, and finding deer tracks as we walked the trail through their 80 acres of the Flint Hills. Cottonwood Falls is a charming little town--try the Emma Chase Cafe and the excellent Friday night fried catfish. The Tallgrass National Preserve is also a gem well worth the visit.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our anniversary weekend. We stayed in the Prairie Flower suite and took advantage of the fireplace, jacuzzi and comfortable four-poster bed. The breakfasts were delicious! Guests were welcome to explore the 1 mile trail around the property. We walked, took pictures and were accompanied by the host's dog. The hostess was very knowledgeable... More

We booked the entire Stonehouse for our Christmas Vacation. Our family thoroughly enjoy themselves and asked to do it again THIS year! The staff made it so memorable for us!

The Prairie Flower Room is wonderful. We really enjoyed the scenery and walking trails that surround the property. We enjoyed sitting in the porch swing next to the pond, which was very romantic. Cottonwood Falls is a quaint little town with extremely nice and welcoming inhabitants. The Hotel Restaurant serviced wonderful food and the Courthouse is historical.

My husband and I, and another family member booked the yellow room and the blue room for a short getaway. It was a delight! We spent the day enjoying the Flint Hills Scenic Byway and, in particular, the Spring Hill Z Bar Ranch in the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. It was great to get "home" to the well- appointed and... More

My wife and I spent 2 wonderful days at the 1874 Stonehouse and thoroughly enjoyed the walking paths through the tallgrass, the peaceful fishing pond, and the hospitality of Billie and her 2 wonderful dogs... who, by the way, are excellent walking companions. The room exceeded our expectations, the breakfast was delicious, and the night sky was worth the trip.... More

My husband and I spent a wonderful night at the 1874 Stonehouse for our anniversary. Cottonwood Falls, KS is more than a little bit out of the way--check out a map!--but if you want quiet tranquility, this is worth it! The drive through the Flint Hills is both peaceful and scenic. We stayed in the Prairie Flower Suite and it... More
