We are budget minded travelers and have stayed in plenty of cheap motels. I can deal with uncomfortable beds, noisy, etc. However I had a terrifying and unacceptable experience at the Sitka Hotel. Upon the second night at the hotel, we were awakened at 1:30AM to the sound of the door opening. I jumped up and confronted an elderly couple... More

The hotel assured us there would be free shuttle service from the Alaska ferry terminal when the ferry arrived at 2 AM but the shuttle was nowhere to be seen. (Turned out it was neither free nor available). We hitched a ride with a fellow passenger to the hotel. When we complained to the hotel staff about our disappointment, we... More

This old Victorian partially renovated hotel is where all the fishermen stay and one of the places where they party and drink etc. The stuff that goes on here is unbelievable. We loved it!. It's part of the rough and tumble town that has remained authentic because of the limited cruise boat activity. Even if it's not the place you'd... More

I thought this was a very good stay considering how cheap it was. I think it was the only good-cheap hotel in sitka(at the time). Good room service good room and overall enjoyed my stay

For being the least expensive hotel in Sitka, it's definitely a good deal. Our room was very clean with two queen beds & one twin bed, along with a view of the bridge. I've stayed at the Westmark before and it's not worth spending money on a "name" because in Alaska that really doesn't matter! The Sitka Hotel was quint,... More

Great, friendly staff and excellent location makes this a popular hotel. Once I went down the shades-of-rehab hallway, the stark room chilled my already damp body from the continual rains in Sitka. The bed is in the middle of the room--neither the head or foot are against a wall. The furniture looks like something purchased at a Goodwill fire sale.... More

I wish I would have read these reviews. The place was just awful. It was super noisy in the morning and at night. There was a very loud bar next door. The cops had to be summoned to break up a fight down the hall. It was very scary. I am a fisherman and construction worker so I could handle... More

We booked 5 months ahead and reserved a renovated large room with a microwave, refrigerator and two beds. We called 2 weeks prior to our arrival and confirmed these specific arrangements. However, when we checked in we were given a room with a bed and television--no chair, lamps, nothing. Bare bones. When we went back to the desk their attitude... More

I missed my cruise out of Vancouver and flew to Sitka to meet the boat and needed a cheep place to crash. Cheep it was, but don't expect much. Very quirky, OLD, bare bones. No amenities, not even an alarm clock. My window had to be propped open with the trash can and the beds were twins. If you just... More

Date:7/29-8/1/06 Trip Advisor member:onoman, SoCal Went to Sitka for a fishing trip. This was planned at the last moment and we were able to find a hotel room at the Sitka Hotel. This is the oldest hotel in town and has a terrific location for site seeing and the major fishing pier. This is a fairly spartan place, but hey,... More
