Our stay occurred during heavy rain storms on May 6th when we got stranded. Our hosts hospitality really came out in the care they took of us. The place was beautiful and cozy. We also felt more like family friends than just guests. Too bad the service rating stops at 5! These folks are a 10 !! We're ready to... More

What an amazing place this is! We’ve enjoyed the coziness and surrounding treasures from their time spent abroad! After full days of hiking and exploring the area we couldn’t wait to get back to the Bumble Bee cabin to relax. This was a wonderful escape and a memorable way to spend my 30th birthday. We truly appreciated all the special... More

We absolutely loved everything @ SME!! The hospitality is beyond words. We have stayed in many different resorts throughout the years and can honestly say that SME topped the list! The cabin is gorgeous and the land is both charming and serene. This is definitely the hidden jewel of the Shenandoah! Both Lola and Felix are adorable and the perfect... More

SME was a wonderful, relaxing retreat for the weekend. This was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our first anniversary! We loved Luray Caverns and walking through downtown – what a beautiful and friendly town! We couldn’t have had a better escape. We are already planning our next visit! *The owners of this business were by far some... More

It has been three weeks since our weekend getaway and the experience is still resonates with me. This is the FIRST vacation where I didn't need another vacation when I came home! Our Dragonfly cabin looked like it was straight out of a magazine and the atmosphere was so therapeutic and charming. But SME went above and beyond. Every little... More

It’s hard to start – it’s hard to separate the best of the best about SME. They nailed it for sure, this is a great place and they are great hosts. Felix the cat is a wonderful co-host as well. We wanted to find a place to reflect on our past year where we were slapped in the face with... More

My husband and I visited SME for a week on our honeymoon, and it was a fantastic decision. The scenery of Shenandoah was gorgeous (even during winter), the cabin (we stayed in the dragonfly) was beautiful, and most of all, Karen & Ralph were amazing hosts. They left wine for us, were constantly bringing us freshly baked sweets, and even... More

We chose this for our honeymoon and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The bumblebee cabin was outstanding! The grounds are beautiful! It's literally a little piece of paradise at the base of the Shenandoah National Park. If all you do is relax and enjoy the nature walks you'll be thrilled with your choice to stay here. Ralph and... My husband and I were so happy we found this little slice of heaven! As we celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary together, Mike and I marveled at all the beauty surrounding us from the intricate details of all the German relics to the architecture of the timberframe to the deer dancing and feeding on corn as Karen stood among them.... We throughly enjoyed our stay here, it is a beautiful and secluded property The cabins are amazing, and the Bumblebee cabin that we stayed in was just perfect. Even had an extra treat with waking up to the snow-covered ground and trees on Valentine Day's morning. We enjoyed our coffee in the observation tower as the sun came over the... More
