I was up in Salem visiting friends in the area and decided at the last minute to stay overnight. The minute I stepped foot into this bed & breakfast, I felt that I had picked a good one. I was brought up to my room and was very satisfied to how the room was decorated. As for the cleanliness of... More

I would highly recommend the Amelia Payson House to anyone visiting Salem. Ada and Donald were amazing hosts, and our room was excellent. The house was beautiful and every inch was spotless. Our room was very comfortable, especially with the all important air conditioner during the really humid weather, and it was large enough to move around. We were amazed... More

Sorry for the delay in responding to your review. My husband and I stayed at the Amelia Payson House for three nights in May 2010. We wanted to visit Boston but not stay in Boston. This place was perfect. A few minutes walk to the station with regular trains into Boston and takes about 30 minutes from Salem on the train. Salem itself is a lovely place to stay.... More

A comfortable and quiet room with all the amenities plus a wonderful breakfast each morning. Don and Ada were friendly and helpful; they helped make our first trip to Salem a very enjoyable one. We were recommending their bed and breakfast to family members before we even left Salem! More

Staying in this beautiful 19th century home, just 30 minutes north of Boston, was pure delight! Situated on a tree-lined street just one block from Salem Common, the location makes it possible to park the car (off street) for the duration of your stay and walk to the harbor, museums, restaurants, etc. My second floor room was large, inviting, and... We just returned home from an extended weekend at the Amelia Payson House in beautiful Salem, MA and I highly recommend staying there. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious (with perhaps the largest bathroom I have ever seen in a B&B). Everything was sparkling clean and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Most of all, our hosts Ada and Donald... More

My husband and I stayed one night at the Amelia Payson House in Salem. Our hosts were warm, welcoming and friendly. Our room was beautifully decorated and had everything we could want; it was at the back of the house and was very quiet. The bed was quite comfortable. A very nice breakfast was provided. The availability of onsite parking... More

We arrived late in the evening after a long flight from London and were warmly welcomed by Ada and Donald to their home. The bedroom was beautifully furnished but the ensuite bathroom was rather disappointing. The shower curtain hung all around the inside of the bath which made the shower restrictive as it constantly stuck to your body! The water... More

We arrived about 9pm on Sunday 20th September after getting married the day before and travelling from Scotland to Salem. Ada greeted us with a wonderful welcoming smile and showed us to our room before telling us where to park and even meeting us out the back where the parking spaces are. If that wasn;t enough - she gave us... More

I teased Ada at breakfast saying that we had spent 2 days trying to find something out of place so we could criticize her inn, but had to give up because everything was perfect. This was no joke, this is one of the best inns we have stayed ever. Great settings, great location, warm hosts, cannot ask for more !! More

Always striving for perfection, but mindful a 160 year old house keeps you on your toes. Keeping it clean is the easy part. It's Murphy's Law that you have to watch out for. Glad we had a part in making your stay a memorable one and good to know you have arrived home safely. "Hola" to all........ Ada & Don More
