I've been meaning to write this review forever. If you're looking for a great house to stay at while in Providence pick this place. The price can't be beat and James is a fantastic host. Yes the location is not great (the neighbourhood is a bit rundown) but as my girlfriend lives in new york and I lived in Montreal... More

I stayed for a week in the Gothic Guesthouse and my experience couldn't have been better. I had a very large room with high ceilings. I will take this anyday over the cramped and overpriced rooms @ the Viking Hotel on Bellevue in Newport, and it is a fraction of the price! James couldn't have been kinder or more gracious... More

We stayed at the Gothic Guesthouse on and off for 3 nights during our vacation in US and Canada. James is the most welcoming host we have ever met, serving us lovely coffee in the morning and providing us with all kind of help in a nice and relaxed way. If we ever go to Providence again, we will call... More

We 're gonna join my sister's family and their friends for the Holidays. Emailed Mr Farrell with our plans, and right away he responded, offering a variety of options. (We were gonna be 4 the first night then 2 or 3 the nights to follow.) We got our favorite space "the loft" which has its own living room, bathroom and... More

Inexpensive and unique accommodation. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The place is super clean with spacious rooms and bathrooms. Location isn't in a great neighbourhood, but isn't far from downtown either. More

The owner gave us directions (and offers to pick you up at the airport/bus station)...It was in a poor neighborhood, but not scary. The house itself is an old gothic house that the owners, a couple, are renovating slowly, so I felt that my dollars went to a wonderful project! There are maps, books, a piano, a fridge and several... More

As I was preparing for my holiday in Providence, the rate of the Gothic Guesthouse immediately caught my eye. $55? The reviews were pretty good, so I called for more information and, boy howdy, I got it! James, co-proprietor, promptly returned my phone call and answered all my questions respectfully and honestly. He then went on to describe the Guesthouse,... More

This is a very cool place to stay. It's extremely affordable and the hosts treat you like family. It is very quiet there, clean, and the beds are insanely comfortable. It's a very homey atmosphere. A lot of the guests (according to one of the hosts), are repeat customers. **Make sure you have a rental car** Even though its a... More

We reserved both rooms in the loft in the Guesthouse for $46 a night per room. The price includes free wireless Internet, but since this is a guest house, there are no frills (no breakfast, no soap in the bathroom). By reserving both rooms, we essentially guaranteed our privacy on the third floor ("the loft"). The loft features a living... More
