Definitely get one of the four front suites facing mountains - gorgeous! The food was was exceptional and staff amiable. Easy convenient location. Take the ghost tour for some mysterious fun. Also take in the beauty of the mountains and wildlife by hooking up with Rocky Mountain trail riding guides.

If you are looking for perfection go find a brand new hotel. If you want charm then the Stanley is for you. In reading other reviews some complained of squeaky floors and torn carpet. Clearly if you're going to the Stanley, you're not going for the deluxe accommodations. It has all the advantages and disadvantages of a historic hotel. Large windows but no air conditioning.
