Campsites have lots of space and trees. The pool and hot tub are is nice. So nice to find a campground that lets you enjoy nature and is not a parking lot. The bath houses were clean and the staff very friendly. It is very close to all the attractions. Also they have a nice playground for the kids. We... More

Overall our four household/family vacation was amazing. The weather was great, the scenery was majestic and relaxing. The cabins were really great. My few complaints are listed here: 1. The biggest complaint is that there is no recycling. This is a big mistake. They have more than enough space for recycling dumpsters, and what an immense amount of trash they... More

We've stayed at quite a few campgrounds in the Black Hills, and this is by far our favorite. It is spread out and you don't feel like you are packed in like sardines. There is also a lot to do, with basketball courts, playground, volleyball and an awesome heated pool. You can also rent bikes and take a ride on... More

We planned this last trip before the kids had to head back to school near the end of August. I was a bit reluctant because we had never been to South Dakota and had never stayed here before. Campgrounds like these are sometimes a hit and miss depending who's running it and how it's ran. We were pleasantly surprised and... More

We camped here the middle of August 2012. Location is great, facility is nice, and sites are roomy. Only complaint, is you hear road noise from the site. It's such a nice, big, open campground, it's such a shame the highway is so close. Otherwise, great place, and lots to see and do..

Stayed here over labor day weekend 2012 w/ 2 teenage boys. Stayed in spot #177 in a 31' fifth. Pool was great after the staff cleaned the bugs out! Good location close to hill city but feels like you are out in the woods. Good layout of spots allows everyone to have a view of meadow and mntns. Spots are... More

We were shocked to see the managers and the owner hiding behind trees spying on a family reunion across the road from us. The reunion was NOT loud or belligerent..just having a fun time with each other. At 10:00 on the dot the manager and the owner started harrassing about being quiet. This reunion took up most of the campground... More

We stayed here the end of July 2012. This is very close to both Mt. Rushmore and Crazyhorse. Pull threw sites were nice, especially with the bigger rigs. Bathrooms were clean and simple. The pancake breakfast and biscuits and gravy was nice and sufficient. This breakfast offer made it nice so we could get going in the morning and not... More

We decided to stay here on a recent vacation and LOVED it. The facilities are nice, the camping spots are spacious and the staff is wonderful. We enjoyed the pancake breakfast the next morning before going to Mt. Rushmore - it's a great location for visiting the monument! Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at Rafter JBar July 27th thru August 2nd. We traveled in a Class A RV (34'). When we arrived we were given a site in the Lower Ranch Camp area. First about the site sizes. These are by far the largest sites we have ever seen when it comes to an RV site. Plenty of room on both... More
