As other reviewers have commented great location in a lovely old town. Rooms look like down market Travel Lodge. No English spoken - you can get by a little in French. We had a surprisingly good meal in the evening. Breakfast average. WIFI?! Could be so much better.

Wow, the other reviewers are not too generous to this hotel. Yes, this is not Sofitel, the service sucks, wifi doesn't work, rooms could be better designed and more comfortable, sleep quality is not good, but you on the main plaza of the wonderful old town of Besalu, one of the most historic and atmospheric little town of Catalonia. So... More

The hotel is well located but the staff is unfriendly and not helpful. The rooms look nice, but the shower doesn't. We stayed there just because we arrived late into town and had no other choice. The wifi hardly worked even in the lobby. Avoid.

Nice hotel in good location but we were checked in by someone who spoke no English (why allow bookings through UK websites if you can't have at lease some basic help for guests). She tried to explain something to us but had to 'phone a friend' who told us an important message about the breakfast (which we did not order)... More

This hotel lovely from the outside. The rooms are very passable, aircon, great views and unfussy. Besalu is a town I visit regularly. Sadly, this hotel could be so much nicer without much effort. The reception staff are 'cold' but are untrained and don't know better. The rooms are furnished with the fake antique nastiness of a 70s Marriot. The... More

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Spain and we stayed at this hotel in Besalu for part of our trip. At first, we loved the place. We had a very nice, spacious, clean room with a/c on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the cute square. But . . . by morning we were totally... More

We spent one afternoon and night here before catching our flight from Girona. The hotel was well situated and clean but there was a definite smell of drains in the lobby. However, the whole town seems to suffer from this unfortunate problem. Our room was small but that was fine as we were only sleeping there for one night and... More

Stayed here for two nights late December. Catalunya was hit by very bad weather, very low temperatures and non stop rain. This hotel looked fine, it was well located, but I am afraid that we didnt have a good experience. There was no heat in the room both nights, and I asked staff several times to fix it. I eventually... More

After three days in Barcelona this was our day in the countryside before heading into Girona...unfortunately by the time we made it through the traffic heading out of the city we had lost part of the day...and also Spain had been hit by very unseasonal weather bringing snow to most of the north of the country and cold rain to... In the lovely medieval Catalonian town of Besalu, opposite the church stands the Hotel Comte Tallaferro. It has arguably the best location in town with many cafes and restaurants are only a stroll away. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious, with a whirlpool bath tub in the bathroom. The top floor rooms have tiny windows looking out onto the... More
