If you are not in an RV or using a generator, avoid the electric hook up loops. The tent only area is less congested, much quieter and roomy. We screwed up and set up our pop up across from hook up sites...mistake. The campground is very nice and the showers are amazing.

We made an unplanned stop in Mesa Verde and were very pleased with the campgrounds. There was a semi-long wait to check in (but the women working the desk were very nice and friendly) and the nightly cost was slightly higher than average for NPS campgrounds, but it was made up for in the pretty sites and free hot showers.... We did book in advance but I noticed most people just arrived and checked in, it is first come first serve and you pick you own spot. It seems less than 20% full for us so we had plenty of places to choose from so you are definitely not on top of one another. We were welcomed with deer walking... More

we spent one night in the park. We have read some of the reviews and we're not sure what to expect. What we found was quite delightful. The campground has 4 different areas all somewhat adjacent to each other. There are a few hookups which are hard to come by. the showers were free hot and clean. the Rangers were... More

We spent a night in our RV at Morefield, then visited Balcony House the next morning. We were able to park our trailer next to the gas station while we drove out to the ruins. Morefield is a great place to stay but is beginning to show its age. Bathrooms are clean and staff at the store were very friendly... More

The sights at Mesa Verde are amazing and the campground is a fine place to stay while exploring. We found mid-September to be a perfect time to be there - crowds were gone and weather was warm in the daytime. This campground is spread out with many sites separated with trees. Bathrooms were ok; free showers were a plus; camp... More

I booked a (highly-priced) site online, expecting the "Tent Only" loop to be devoid of RVs and other metallic monoliths. Unfortunately, the operators allow such vehicles to set up amongst the tents and our sleep was interrupted by the nighttime partying of the RV owners. Those who camp in tents generally try to sleep early, as we know we will... More

We tent camped here in the tent loop. We saw several deer walking through the site which was cool. Several bathrooms with flush toilets located throughout the loop which were clean. Some sites are totally open others feel a bit more secluded. Most sites have a picnic table and fire ring. There is a simulated kiva at the top of... More

This is a nice campground. The sites were spaced out pretty well but could have been a little more level. The bathrooms were clean but a little old. What was surprising was the showers are free, the only time we saw that. The campground is far from the main part of the park but there is no lodging that is... More

We camped one night in the campground. We loved how beautiful the night sky was from our tent site. We had a picnic table and a fire pit right near our tent. We were able to roast marshmallows and look at the stars. It was wonderful. There were only 2 drawbacks to camping at this park. The first is that... More
