If visiting Iceland in the winter I highly recommend securing accomodations before passing through Hella. Since there are very few options open in the winter you will not have much of a selection and may be left staying in a horse barn :(. My friend and I had an amazing stay at Hestheimars during Easter 2011. Our guide was very sweet, competent and caring. The horses were great. Breakfast was the best we had during the entire trip - and we slept like babies in the room named after one of the horses at Hestheimar.
