My (new) husband and I stayed at this resort for one week on our honeymoon and we really enjoyed it. We liked the feature of walking the grounds to our condo every day when going back and forth to the car, it gave it a very nice peaceful feeling, especially since we could smell the flower blossoms in the trees... We stayed at the Holua resort May 1-4, 2013. We had booked the hotel as a black Friday special the day after Thanksgiving for $99 per night Sunday through Thursday, and $109 Friday and Saturday. Shell vacations periodically advertises special offers to it's e-mail customer lists, and this was one of them, with the usual caveat of all holiday weekends... More

Words cannot describe. Excellent value, service and rooms. We had an oceanfront 1-bedroom ground-floor suite with a full kitchen. Everything was clean and in good repair. Staff was helpful with everything. I had trouble checking in for a flight through my mobile device, so they offered to use the desktop in their office and even print my boarding passes. Amenities... The Holua was exactly what we were promised: a clean, spacious and affordable place for us to spend a week. The units are well laid out and very comfortable. The kitchens are well equipped (although we wish we'd had a measuring cup). The beds are comfortable. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. The pools are serviceable if you... More

We stayed for a week at this resort. The location was suitable for our trip and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The accommodations were a bit dated but very clean, comfortable and spacious. Excellent kitchen facilities for a 1 BR unit. We weren't wild about the 3 hour (optional) time share presentation. Just skip this if you are really... More

Pleasantly surprised by the space, the suite amenities, and the colour palette working surprisingly well. Definitely, this is a comfortable stay recommended to all sorts of the travelers to the Big Island. (A car is recommended.) We enjoyed the series of isolated mini-pools, as it generally meant there was a nearby pool just for us.

We booked 4 nights here for our honeymoon and absolutely LOVED it! We got a one bedroom suite on the second floor. At check-in, we were greeted with friendly "alohas" and all the staff that works the grounds were always smiling and eager to lend a hand. We immediately felt like we were in paradise as soon as we opened... More

This has to be the one of the best values I've ever gotten in a hotel. I took a "Green" deal and saved $25/night in exchange for housekeeping that only consisted of new towels. I was also upgraded to a two-bedroom unit. The unit was two floors with two master bathrooms, an upstairs bathroom, well-sized and fully-equipped kitchen, dining area,... More

A colorful and immaculate unit awaited us at this conveniently located resort. We arrived early and were able to leave luggage at the front desk which the staff delivered to our unit for us. Very attentive service and friendly staff. It's a good base for exploring Kailua-Kona and the west side of the Big Island.

For the money, you can't beat this place. It's clean and comfortable and a great base of operations for a week on the Big Island. You do need a car if you stay here. There are no beaches within walking distance, but they are only a 5 minute drive away. During our stay, we did have 2 issues of note.... More
