We stayed in one of the remodeled lodge rooms in July for two nights. It is very spacious and had been newly remodeled and had a nice balcony overlooking the lake and a large bathroom with separate sink. Make sure to specify that you want a room in the new addition of the lodge, all those rooms are new.

Beautiful old cabin. Great location for hiking in Custer State Park. We had a very nice meal at teh main lodge. The lounge at the main lodge is a wonderful place to sit and have a drink with old western decor.

We were really disappointed in the service at this hotel. Yes, it's in a great location, but I would not recommend staying there. We stayed two nights, and for both evening meals, and breakfasts, there was a long delay, so much so that we discussed ordering our breakfast the night before in the hope that it might be served reasonably... Upon reading bad reviews, it should be explained that there are a few "old" rooms in the lodge that you do not want to stay in. The rest of the lodge rooms are gorgeous - newly and very tastefully done. We had a room with 2 queen size beds, a little patio, a really nice comfy lounge chair with ottoman... More

The service, location and resort are all top knotch. We stayed at the resort for only one night, and wish it had been longer. The food in the dining room is wonderful, and the staff is very helpful. The lobby has a very rustic feel and is beautiful. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights to begin our vacation. The room was just average, nicely appointed and comfortable. The location is fantastic! Close to Sylvan Lake, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, all the rds in Custer State Park, Rapid City and Hill City. Just getting to the lodge off Rt 16 is an adventure, beautiful scenery and driving thru... More

We did not stay here but called in one evening and ate in the restaurant. To be fair we looked pretty scruffy as we had been out in the countryside all day and they did not bat an eyelid. I had the elk bolognese, which was tasty, and my partner had a steak, which was nicely cooked. A glass of... More

we were looking to stay in different lodges, as they all looked so nice online. this was our first one and what a disappointment. the room was very small, and the bathroom even smaller. was booked online and was charged the room rate. when we checked out we were given a bill for another $50.00 in BS fees. stayed in... The overall appearance is old and run down. The bathroom inside our room was dirty and dusty. The water pressure was pathetic and it felt like our neighbors were inside of our room. The carpets needed to be vacuumed and it just was poorly managed. The front receptionist was friendly and cheerful, but our dining room was lackluster to say... More

My wife and I were just wandering South Dakota with plans to stay in the Black Hills. We searched for lodging as we traveled, the beauty of the internet. We found this place and booked 2 nights, when we arrived and saw the location we added another night. The first room in the old wing was terrible and we changed... More
