My girlfriend and I spent two nights at the Hotel Royal on the weekend of May 12th. We wanted a smaller "boutique" hotel and couldn't have been happier. I should note that I work at a five start hotel and that I am in my late 20s. Upon arrival the staff was helpful and friendly to the point that I... More

I stayed here for four nights during Jazz Fest 2012. I made the reservation on Expedia kind of on a whim sight unseen. The in between nights were a pretty good deal. The one Jazz Fest night I stayed (Friday) was a little over-priced for what it is. It's a fairly typical French Quarter rooming house type of place. A... More

We have been to New Orleans for Jazzfest at least 10 times. This year we thought we'd try The French Quarter Fest (Wonderful by the way)! We normally make reservations 6 months in advance because otherwise the hotel selection becomes very narrow and the prices are always jacked way up, for special events. This time we only decided to go... More

My husband and I stayed in a master suite room 11. When staying here we kept in mind that the building is in fact super old. I personally loved the charm of the hotel. The staff here make this hotel!!!!! Ty and Eric are wonderful and very hard working! We had an amazing room, a gorgeous view on our balcony... More

Friendly staff, Great location, Reasonable rates. We stayed in the Refino King suite located on the top floor. (Warning: There is no elevator, but they do help you with your luggage. I think we counted 7 or 8 staircases. But we didn't mind, it helped us burn off some of the great meals we were eating.) The king suite is... More

For the rates charged on this hotel, you get very little compared to other hotels. You are left with a bit of a I have been taken and ripped off feeling. Positive: Friendly staff, Great location in the quieter area of the Quarter, Authenitic to the Period building. Negative: Rooms are tiny and uncomfortable, Lack of proper comfortable furniture in... It's a good location, just outside the wild Bourbon Street activities but near enough to walk to the sights. We stayed 3 nights, one room on the 3rd floor, and one room in the attic on the 4th. While the building is old and full of character, the rooms are modern. They don't have the amenities of all motels we... More

Loved it! This is a charming, boutique type hotel steeped in New Orleans, French Quarter culture. The Staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Walking distance to everything you need, and one block from Bourbon Street. Be warned, if you’re the picky high-maintenance type, go elsewhere. This is a 185 year-old building with plenty of quirks. Some guest... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Royal and I have never visited a hotel with a staff as friendly and caring as this one. After reading reviews I phoned ahead to request a courtyard room, while they couldn't promise anything (no hotel can) they did make a note and we did get the room we wanted. Yes, there are... More
