Our family stayed five nights at the Degas House. The staff is exceptionally friendly; Sharon & Carolyn are great cooks and so kind. We stayed in the building next door to the main house. I would have liked to be in the main building only to enjoy being in the beautiful house. The Mathilde room has a balcony which was... More

We had a trip to New Orleans for a conference including that first weekend of Mardi Gras. While perusing the internet for historic places to tour, my husband came upon the tour of the Degas house with top ratings, but then learned it was a B&B! He cancelled our hotel reservations for two nights (would have done so for the... More

My wife and I attended the open house celebration. The mansion itself is amazing with beautiful furnishings throughout, and the party was even better. Everyone was treated like royalty. The food was awesome. We were able to look around in all the rooms but one. To top it off, I got an art history lesson . We are going back... More

Award winning documentary film, descendant docent. Two tours per day, definitely worth the bus ride from the French Quarter. I only came for the house tour. The special event rentals and Bed and Breakfast support this historical treasure.

This is a wonderfully historic and artistically significant property on Esplanade. I stayed with my family in the Mathilde Suite. This is a 2 bedroom suite with private balcony. Very nicely apppointed but with small and out of date (think 1980s) televisions and a balky thermostat that needs replacing. The staff is 5 star plus. Mark, as well as all... More

What an awesome place. It is like stepping back in time. Having one of Degas descendants give us a tour was was a very nice touch. We are thoroughly loving this place. Very convenient to the rest of town too.

I stayed at the Degas House last weekend with my family. For starters this is an amazingly beautiful property a few blocks north of the French Quarter on Esplanade. It is very easy to park and get around in this part of town. The Degas House is a beautiful mansion with 2 buildings and a gorgeous courtyard in-between. When you... More

We recently stayed at the Degas House for three nights. The William Bell Suite worked well for three of us. The facilities are more than adequate, but remember, this is a historic property (if you want a modern bathroom, this is not the place for you). The management was efficient and responsive. Breakfast was enjoyable, pleasant conversation with fellow travelers... More

Sometimes you don't get what you paid for, and this was definitely the case regarding my stay at the Degas house. Location: This place is in a sketchy hood, and way too far to walk to the French Quarter or anywhere else. That leaves taking a cab for $10 bucks a pop including tip. This adds up. So to leave... We stayed here for two nights in the Mathilde suite. It was very spacious and elegant. It was a great experience being able to stay in a period American home and one with a rich history. There's lots of copies of Degas' work around the house and plenty of information too about the artist and his family who lived there.... More
