From the outside the place looks quite charming in an old British colonial sort of way but the rooms were of very poor quality for the price. Ours was damp, the bathroom mouldy and smelly! My bed sheets were old, worn and also damp and the blankets were polyester. Staff were OK if overly attentive (and quite frankly a little... More

Extremely expensive for the quality and comfort of the room. The manager was friendly however. The bathroom was mouldy and reminded me significantly of a hovel I rented in my student days. A real shame as this place could be amazing...but isn't.

Owners were very friendly. We were shown to their only available room, the room across the hall from the reception area. Room is spacious, has a fireplace. Wood panelling on walls, which makes it seem quite dark. Bathroom is VERY basic and cold. For the price we were paying (R7000 = €46), I would expect a decent bathroom. Common area... More

So... we were shown one room on our arrival and then as we unloaded the taxi were shown to another one (as the one we saw was booked) which wasn't as good. However it was very clean, dry and warm enough. The communal areas of the guest house and seating are very comfortable and spacious. We didn't eat dinner there... More

Our room was of average quality in this hotel. We found the room quite small. It cost a lot though so wasnt great value for money. However the staff were friendly and the hotel was pretty with amazing colonial decor and cosey communal areas. Make sure you have afternoon tea on the lawn! Great location near to Victoria Park.

A lovely colonial house with huge rooms (more like little apartments) and fireplaces in the room (we appreciated it because it was quite cold). Lovely staff, especially Sydney the housekeeper always asking whether we need something or making sure we eat enough ;)) They have a great lounge with another fireplace and it really feels like in a family home... It wasn't the Trevene's fault that it rained the 3 days we were there so that clothes washed and rung out one evening were even wetter the next morning. Because of the rain,we couldn't do what we intended in exploring the surrounding areas. This nice old house has been converted into a hotel/B & B (although our breakfast was not... More

The rooms could be confortable if they were maintained ... with something or the other not working - electric points, bulbs etc etc. the shower was always a challenge to get the right balance of water temperature. they really need to look into that. The location is good in the sense that it is close to thecity , but not... More

Good place to stay for one night to explore the town / tea plantation. The room was average - we had to ask for the sheets to be cleaned / changed which was done straight away but the towels didn't seem freshly cleaned. Tv was good with all the channels. Breakfast was ok - toast, eggs, coffee Staff were friendly... More

Hotel - Not really an hotel, more a guest house. House with 200 years old, is not very well keept. Decoration is quite bad, not taking advantage of the place. They do not look into the details that can make a diference in a place like this, and the potencial of the place is all there. But either you have... More
