We were very disappointed in Motty's homestay, particularly as our previous exoerience had been so good. When we arrived he appeared somewhat cross that we had not arrived at the exact time that he had expected. The food he served us that night was not great at very little of it. When investigating our rooms thte water in the bottle... More

Motty's was a wonderful place to stay. Our room had lovely antique furniture and a bed that would have fitted 4 people. It was spotlessly clean. We couldn't have been looked after better. We chatted like old friends and they were so interesting. We had our meals with them every night that Lali cooked for us and each night she introduced... We were really hoping for a great experience at Mottys, having read other reviews, but were sorely disappointed, particulary having come from another much more fabulous farmstay in kerala. Motty seemed disinterested at best, grumpy at worst, and provided us with a very sparse meal evening meal on the night we arrived, for which we were charged more than any... More

Sorry I was not impressed. Water bottles unsealed in rooms with water that smelt. Cockroach in the bedroom. I did not feel very welcome and felt very much like a paying guest. Was charged a full rate for a double room ..usually small discount for a single room. The chap who Motty uses to do the river trip is excellent... More

Motty and Lali are the perfect hosts. We chose a homestay to get that ‘inside’ view of india and really glad we did. The room was unique, spacious and clean as too was the house. But the accommodation is little compared to our hosts, we could not have asked for more. They made every effort to spend as much or... More

During a month in Kerala we spent 5 nights with Motty and Lali. It remains a true highlight of our visit. Motty was superb at arranging trips in the backwaters, and transport to take us around Alleppey and nearby places. Lali provided us with delicious food, and taught us to cook recipes which we have since used successfully at home.... More

Only stayed here one day with Motty and Lali. They were very welcoming and we were looked after as well as could be. Motty arranged a wonderful boat trip on the backwaters for us at the very last second which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room was very nice, spacious with a traditional Keralan outdoor bathroom which we loved! Our only... More

I spent a wonderful 3 nights with Motty and Lali in February. They are the most welcoming people you could hope to meet. Lali's home cooked food was delicious and Motty spared no effort in helping me organise my time in the backwaters and my journey onwards. The rooms, and the house, are absolutely beautiful, full of interesting furniture and... More

Motty and Lali and Jack made our stay so wonderful.Truly generous, kind and respected people that was reflected in their beautiful home and guest rooms and courtyard. Teakwood and true hospitality. Lali's tremendously delicious food was matched only by the helpfulness and accomodating ways shown us at every turn. Definitely and HIGHLY recommended and we WILL see them again soon!... More

We had a wonderful time with Motty & Lali during our 3 day stay in Alappuzha. We encountered the warmest, kindest hospitality, and we have some unforgettable memories from our stay (the dog naming party was brilliant fun, Jack!) Mottys obviously a respected resident of Allepey and his involvement & knowledge of the town was really useful. The rooms without... More
