Compared with the other lodges in National parks in Tanzania we found this to be great value even though the rooms were slightly dated and needed work. The location is great but you can hear the trucks rattling along the nearby road at night

Hi Tom Thanks for the review - as with my response to Melissa below, bandas all being rebuilt at the moment, new mattrasses etc with the new building as well. Not sure what we can do about the rumbling trucks - I must admit to hating them as well. We are planting some more bush type trees behind camp, hoping... More

We spent the weekend at Mikumi Wildlife Camp. The bandas are a little run down, however are closing this week for a complete renovation and rebuild of the rooms. The food was tasty, varied, and plentiful, catering for our 3 children's needs aswell. We saw Lion, herds of buffalo, wildebeest, elephant, zebra, jackal, impala, eland, hippo, crocs, warthog, baboon, and... More

Hi Melissa Many thanks for your review! The camp is currently closed - the old bandas are being knocked and new bandas being built. We will have only one row of bandas from now, so everyone has the same great view over the waterhole and to the plains. Looking forward to seeing you there again, once we have re-opened next... More

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in September 2012. The views were stunning, we saw an incredible amount of animals. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely. Overall, this was an excellant experience and we would recommend it to everyone.

The camp is on the only main road from Dar to western Tanzania passing through Mikumi National Park and is on a bus route. So it is easy to stop off for a night or two on your way west. That's good, but it also means you have the constant noise of traffic. You can see all the usual game... More

Hi Tom Thanks for taking the time to send in a review. Within a week we will actually be shutting the camp down to rebuild the lodges, which you correctly noted are tired and in need of rebuild. We will be putting new mattrasses etc in and hope that you will be coming back to assess the new product once... More

Hi Dosiman We're sorry you didn't really enjoy your stay. Regarding the animals within the camp - we would prefer to keep it as it is, because it is what most of our repeat guests really enjoy! regards More

The lodge in the mikumi nationalpark (called mikumi nationalpark wildlife camp) is a good option to sleep during a safari trip. It has a good restaurant to eat breakfast and as well dinner. But I have also to write that there is a very nice pool outside of the hotel. It is situated very close to the animals. The stuff... More

Stayed here last month with my parents and again last week with my parents-in-law. Both visits very successful. Rooms have amazing views out across the plains, and the waterholes by the dining area provide a constant source of wild entertainment. Staff very friendly and helpful and food plentiful and tasty. Only problem with this camp is how close it is... More

Many thanks for the review! We have just planted about 250 indigenous tree saplings behind the camp and start of the next rains we will be planting about the same number of more bushy type indigenous plants behind the camp. Hopefully a fair number will survive the elephants etc and provide a little buffer from the sounds of the passing... More

This really is a great stay because of the location from Dar and the location in the park itself. I am the designated driver so I really like stay in this place while the others drive around. The chances are you will eventually see the same animals. It's great for long weekends. 1 night is enough. We stayed last minute... More

The setting is definitely spectacular--when we arrived, for example, there was a monkey sitting on our cabin's patio. The cabin was reasonably comfortable, and the eating/bar area is done well. However, for US$240 (half-board), I didn't think the place was worth it. That's a lot of money, and the food was really not very good (while the service over dinner... More

Hi Malcolm Thanks for the review, but I am sorry the camp did not live up to expectations. We are going to start some training of the service staff in particular, by bringing in an outside consultant on a monthly basis. I am very surprised to hear about stale bread, as it is normally baked daily in the camp. However,... More

We (a group of 30 of us) travelled from Dar Es Salaam by Dalla Dalla (recommended for the brave only) to fit in a Safari due to the limited time we had in Tanzania.
