This hotel is yucky - damp and VERY OLD and OUT OF DATE!!! In the morning while getting coffee in the lobby I overheard the manager tell a new employee that they keep track of how many nights each room is used and after 30 nights to wash the bedspread!!!!! GAG

Motel prices in this town are stupid exensive. This one was the cheapest we found at $70 per night. Old motel, relativly clean but needs quality maintainence. Calking, painting, fixture installations, and many other things could be done better by a grade school kid and a box of cheap tools. You can see not much pride goes into the worksmanship... More

Without many choices in Astoria, we opted for cheap and were disappointed. This is a very old hotel. The room smelled odd. The bed was uncomfortable and small. Smoking rooms seeped into the walls so badly we had to open our windows and put a fan in the doorway. Floors didn't look very clean. The front door lock was hard... More

We drove by looking for a place to stay with our small Yorkie and I saw "Pet's OK" on the sign. I kept driving to scope out the town and as soon as we got to the end of Astoria we turned right back around. There are a few other small motels on the way back so we weren't sure... More

The office closes at 10pm and that's it. If you're not there by 10pm you don't get in your room. A friend of mine had this happen to him and h ended up having to pay for a room at another hotel when his flight was delayed. It seems to me that in a service business they would make allowances... To begin with, we noticed right away there was a SERIOUS drip from the bathroom faucet. The floor around the sink was sticky. The age of the motel was obvious in the thinness of the walls and in the smoke that drifted in from several people smoking right outside the rooms. The thing that impacted our night the most was... We arrived in Astoria late at night and checked around a few different places for pricing. Ended up at the lamplighter motel. The front desk lady was awesome, and cut us a deal. We were expecting the typical odd smelling old motel, but were pleasantly surprised. Room was very clean, and the bed wasn't the most uncomfortable thing ever.

My family stayed here in August and enjoyed it. It's the old motel feeling, but the price was very cheap and our room slept 5 comfortably! The free soup at dinner was an odd touch but once we tried it we loved it.

We were in our Oregon Coast trip when we arrived to Astoria. This was by far, the best rate we found. Pretty far from downtown, that´s not an issue. You have a diner place very close to the motel.

Found it overpriced for the room. The room they put us in was surrounded by a group of people that were travelling together so when we got there, there were several people congregrated outside our room smoking and yapping. We asked to be moved but since we were already in the room, it was a no go. The manager knew... More
