I have stayed in numerous hotels in New York over many years and The Kitano is probably the best. You don't get much for your bucks in this city when it comes to accommodation but this is an excellently-located property, comfortable, efficient and with good sized rooms that were kept spotlessly clean. The big bonus of this hotel is that... More

Got this hotel on Priceline and was happy with it. We didn't really take advantage of many of the hotel services, but the staff were nice. Was worried about the smoke issue from other reviews, but didn't encounter any problems. The location was great, with easy access to the subway and grand central.

Great location, 2 minutes from Grand Central Terminal, within short walking distance of Fifth Avenue, etc. Very traditional, guests and staff are mostly Japanese. Clean, comfortable, great jazz bar, service is unobtrusive, carried out quietly and efficiently. Would definitely return on another visit.

Stayed at the Kitano in May while on business travel in NYC. It is a small property just a few blocks from Grand Central station in a quieter part of Manhattan - yet convenient to just about everything.... I think this hotel is a fantastic option in NYC for the price - particularly given the rates of most 4 and... More

We spent two nights here in mid-May. It is an excellent location, 4 blocks south of Grand Central Station, two blocks away from buses on 5th Ave and Madison Ave. Of course, the weather was also beautiful, but the hotel is not responsible. Our room was very comfortable, very clean, and reasonably spacious, with a sitting area. We got a... More

This was our third stay in the Kitano Hotel and the excellent standards we experienced the first two times are still being met in this little jewel-box of a hotel. My husband's company booked the room for him while he visited the NY office; I was lucky enough to tag along to my hometown and pretend to be a tourist... More

Located just a couple of blocks from Grand Central Station, the Kitano is well situated. However, the price is too high to make up for the mediocre service and petty gouging. For half a grand per night, you'd think Internet access and in-room coffee would be included. Not so. Both are available, but for an additional cost. I ordered room... More

I stayed at the Kitano for six days, and while it is quite different from other places I've stayed in New York, it was just what I wanted this year. It has a quiet demeanor, tasteful and calm, but I found every staff person I spoke with to be friendly and helpful. Bellman Andrew in particular went well out of... More

We booked on Hotwire and called ahead to ensure that our non smoking requirement could be accommodated as I have asthma. We were told this would not be a problem and I asked again on checkin and was advised we were in a non smoking room. The smell of smoke when we got off on the 14th floor was overwhelming.... More

I stayed here April 18-23 and I found the hotel to be very nice and accomodating. Unfortunately I thought the price of the water in the room was extremely expensive even for New York prices. $5.00 a bottle was pretty steep. Also the fridge was filled with items that were all very costly and over-priced. My thinking is that somethings... More
