Roger Smith hotel is a breath of fresh air in a world of chain hotels: privately owned (with photograph of the owner in each hotel rooom); large rooms; good value; and a great location off of 47th and Lexington. Recommended for business travelers and leisure travelers alike. Positives -Large rooms: Especially suites. The full suite actually contains two bedrooms, in addition to a kitchen, a large sitting area. Rooms are in the process of being... More

I love the Roger Smith Hotel for many reasons. I first stayed here in the mid-1990s and found it to be so warm and comfortable. I did not have the opportunity to return to the city again until Christmas, 2009. Then I came with my husband and daughter ~ their first time to NYC. To my happy surprise, it was just as I remembered, if not better. The front desk staff made us feel like... More

I stayed here for 2 nights in April. It was very pleasant. The typical hotel amenities were as expected. The free wifi was nice too. I was most impressed with the very large rooms for a NYC hotel. Any frequent traveler to NYC knows the hotel rooms can be on the small side, well not here. Two full size rooms. One with a couch, chairs, desk, dining table for at least 4, TV, small closet... More

We stayed for a weekend in May, in a simple room on the 4th floor. We purchased the room with credit card points. Usually you only find generic hotel rooms when using points, but this place is a great old location that retains some of the feel of what Midtown must have been like in the days when Grand Central (which is very close) was the main portal into Manhattan. I particularly liked the bathroom,... More

The Roger Smith hotel is located very close to Grand Central, a few blocks away from the United Nations building and some other attractions in New York; such as, The New York library, The Empire State building and more. I checked in on Thursday April the 26th and I was welcomed by a smiling and very professional front desk agent: Sophie. She was absolutely friendly and knowledgeable about the property. However, the standards of cleaniliness... More

We chose the Roger Smith because it offers suites and since the prices were just a little lower than of other suite hotels. We were not disappointed. For the first 4 nights of our stay we could use the eUpgrade option to stay in two bedroom suite 711 for just $25 more per night ... the last two nights we stayed in one bedroom suite 1011 which was arguably even better and gorgeous with a... Recent one night stay with some buddies in a very roomy suite. The suite kind of reminded me of my grandmother's parlor (1930s-1940s vibe), but truthfully it was a nice change from the cookie cutter boxy furniture of most new hotels. The chairs and sofa were comfortable to sit/lounge on, but the sofa-bed could use new a new mattress, and theTVs were new-ish but not working in high-def. The cable/media system could definitely use an... More

this is a very spacaious hotel room that we stayed in . End of the hall , corner junior suite . there was 3 of us and we each had our own bed and our own dresser / table to place / spread out our items . The bathroom was small and needs to be remodeld as well as the pipes that are visable in the corners of the floor along the wall of the... More

The first impression at the hotel was the best. We arrived very early, around 7:30 in the morning, and the hotel was fully booked. Considering that we, probably, had to wait until the regular check in time at 3:00 pm, we store the luggage and head for a breakfast and, since the place were just at the corner, when we finished we decided to check the room availability and the front desk clerk manage to... The Roger Smith is awesome! It has so much character. The location ( 47th & Lex) is great. Your just a couple of blocks from Grand Central and walking distance to so many wonderful locations. The staff is about the best we've ever experienced. They are so charming, helpful and well informed about NYC. The rooms are immaculately clean, beds are so comfortable. The daily housekeeping great! Excellent location with all expected amenities! 1 week... More
