It was quite a bit bigger than most hostels I've stayed in, so it didn't have the intimacy and 'craic' due to the amounts of people passing in and out. The staff were busy, despite this, they were very professional, knew their stuff and did a splendid job. The hostel room itself was a lot roomier than others that I'd... More

On arriving at the hostel we were too early to check in, being 9am, but we weren't too early for a $10 tour of the city that the hostel offered. Come 10am, we stood with a gathering of people, obviously waiting for the same thing, and were soon greeted my an elderly man who took us away on a tour... More

The hostel is clean, safe, and in an excellent location. The shared kitchen lets you cook your own meals. The patio and back lawn are unexpected surprises. There are organized activites throughout the week, so you can participate in many things as part of a group if you are tired of wandering on your own.

The most comfortable hostel i've ever stayed in! this is my 2nd time staying in HI NY! The staff is wonderful.(A special shout out to Andrew)! You will not get bored, even if you're travelling alone! They organize different activities and tours/ pub hopping every day of the week for a very nominal price (if not free). The kitchen is... More

I took 21 teens to NYC and stayed a week. The hostel is very secure and staff are super-helpful (Zack was our hero!). Very noisy at night thanks to unruly and unsupervised French kids but otherwise ace. Really very clean, plenty of hot water, amazing breakfasts and great facilities; we had a couple if mice but only in rooms where... More

First and foremost it was just so nice to be able to get out of the really busy and touristy parts of the city. Walking distance to central park, the subway, and a bunch of nice cheap local deli's and cafes as well as a bunch of the bigger stores. The accommodation was huge! Its a nice clean and welcoming... It might've been because it was spring break, not only in America, but maybe in Europe/France as well, but there were HEAPS of groups of kids here when I stayed, which added to what I think is the general crowd of the place. I actually stayed in two rooms while here, the first being one of the premium dorms, which... More

I stayed few nights in this hostel. I think it's really well-organised, you have shop, laundry, well-equiped kitched there... It's close to subway and safe. The rooms are spacious although there are many beds- but considering that NY is expensive-it's good for the price! The check-in is always at 3pm -you can't enter earlier -when I arrived earlier everything was... More
