My partner and I spent a weekend at the Strand Hotel. The property is in the Garment District and is an easy 15-minute walk from the Port Authority bus terminal. Although the area is quieter with fewer restaurants around, the more touristy and bustling parts of the city are just several blocks away.
We opted for the Superior Room and...

I thought hard whether to knock a star off due to the building works going on next door......but this is a city, and I guess not a lot they can do about it. Just beware that if you're a light sleeper planning to sleep in you may have some issues until the works are completed.
On to the hotel though...

This is the first time we stayed at the Strand Hotel. We had decided to stay here based on the reviews. We stayed in the Executive rooms, and overall, the room was nice and clean, the view was great (of Empire State Building), the beds were comfortable, but various areas were a let-down.

I recently stayed at The Strand for the fourth time in the last year and a half. The hotel was on the suggested accommodations list for the NYC Wine & Food Fest in 2010 and based on that, I booked my stay there. I can honestly say that I have no need of staying anywhere else in the city from...

My husband and I stayed at The Strand Hotel for one night in NyC and were very pleased with the overall experience. The restaurant by the lobby is really good. Our room was very comfortable, specially the bed and the pillows. The room was also extremely clean. This is definitely a place where I would go back and recommend to...

Our room had a beautiful view of the Empire State Building and the roof top bar was beautiful. The location of the hotel is a great home base for sightseeing - kind of in the middle of everything. Great area for walking and exploring the city. The rooms were clean and efficient. The desk staff was helpful, although did recommend...

I stayed at the Strand for one night on a business trip in NYC. I made my reservation on Jetsetter (part of Gilt group) and got a good rate. I arrived quite early but they had my room ready which was a nice surprise. The room was small but had two very comfy double beds, small closet with robes, very...

We stayed for one week at the end of December 2011. We paid around $200 a night. Considering price, location (Midtown, close to Times Square and the Empire State Building), it was very good place to stay.
The service is good, the room was clean and everything worked. The room is not huge, but acceptable for Midtown and a hotel...
