I was in Kotzebue for work. Apart from going there for at the request of your employer or using it as a base camp for visiting any of the various nearby national parks, I’m unsure as to why, exactly, anyone in their right mind would end up in Kotzebue, AK. Regardless, if you do happen to find yourself there, this... More

Out with the old and in with the "NEW"llagvik. This property is an amazing addition to Kotzebue's charm and allure as a western Alaska destination. A bit pricey for the uninitiated, but no more than a premium hotel in any other North American city. The restaurant, while still serving a limited menu, is doing its best to raise the bar... More

This was my first trip to Kotzebue and I was pleasantly surprised at the accomadations. This was a new hotel, with it's own restaurant. Despite the below Zero temperatures outside, my room was very warm, and had both a microwave and small refrigerator. The restaurant has a large Dining Room overlooking the ocean. (Frozen during my visit) My favorite item... More

We stayed at the old hotel, but happened to be there during the open house for the new one. The old hotel is serviceable. The new one is beautiful and everything you could expect in a nice hotel. (Do keep in mind that it is still a remote location.) Judging by the cleanliness (worn, but clean) and the friendly nature... More

The other reviewers are pretty right. I wanted to write a review because I saw an absolute negative on another site. This hotel may be pricey but what isn't in northern Alaska. Everything is pretty much just what you would find in any room in any mid-rate hotel anywhere in the US. The only frills in the current building are... More

With only two options in Kotz, this hotel is a bit more like a hotel then the other. Pretty nice room with all the typical amenities, but not a lot of frills. No dining option is currently available in the hotel, however there are 2 right next door. They're in the process of a major expansion, so not sure what... More

Just confirming previous reviews. No frills. Expensive but it's expensive to operate anything out here. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Housekeeping quality was variable. Tip: don't get a room next to the laundry. Laundromats are scarce out there and guests start washing early.... More

You can't beat the Nullagvik when in Kotzebue. The Bayside is, well...second best in a field of two. The fact is the Nullagvik has NEVER disappointed, and the rooms are clean, the water HOT and PLENTIFUL, and I've never had a bad night's sleep there in over 20 stays over two years. The staff are always friendly and personable, and... More

My first night in town was in the adjacent Bayside Inn, which was a less-than-pleasant experience (as was my effort to check out, as they had charged the entire five day reservation to my credit card upon check-in). I moved to Nullagvik the next day, and it was a significant improvement. Better bed, better linens, better television. Best of all,... More
