The front desk is very friendly and accommodating, felt like home compared to a chain hotel. They had cider and cookies in the afternoon, wine and cheese on Saturday night during a cocktail hour, and a good breakfast in the morning. Rooms were clean and spacious, my only complaint would be that our room just had a view of the... More

This B&B is not on the ocean, but it is on the water with a marina. I stay here once a year for a quiet weekend get-away. The town of Manteo is quaint and there is plenty to do. Lots of little shops. They also supply bicycles for tooling around. The staff is always pleasent and helpful. The B&B has... More

The rooms were large and nicely furnished, but there was nothing special that made them worth the price. They seemed as though they were fixed up 15 years ago and haven't really been touched since. The rooms smelled musty and everything felt just a little damp. The deck overlooking the water was nice, as were the cookies in the afternoon,... More

Hotel is very close to shopping and Roanoke Island Festival Park. The hotel name is well deserved, since shops close at 5pm and one has no choice but to be tranquil. We did enjoy sitting by the river & on the deck. Don't miss the free wine & cheese each evening. If you're concerned about security, request one of the... More

This was described to me by the staff as a cross between a hotel and a bed and breakfast. I would describe it as a hotel for grown-ups. It had many of those extra little touches that made guests feel welcome. From the moment we checked in until we checked out we were made to feel welcome. The staff helped... More

The Tranquil House Inn is really lovely. The rooms are large and well appointed. The wine reception and the breakfast buffet were also very good. The location is wonderful for walking along the marinas and the town. There are many restaurant choices near by. We would highly recommend this inn for anyone staying in Manteo. More

A beautiful Inn on the lovely Outer Banks of NC. Rooms are quiet and well appointed. This property is well maintained, and the staff is absolutely wonderful! A great complimentary continental style breakfast is served as well as complimentary evening wine and cheese. I have stayed here for a number of years and the Inn remains to uphold its standards... We stayed 2 nights at the Tranquil Inn in Manteo on Roanoke Island in October, 2010. We also ate dinner both nights in the restaurant "1857" located on the first floor of the Inn. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the people working there were friendly and helpful. It is a step above most B&B's in that there are... More

This place is a bit worn around the edges; I looked here for hotels before my trip, and one person did warn that it was an older hotel and had a musty smell--she was right, though I found the whole town had a musty smell; though the room was surface clean, the rugs had stains, the coverlet had stains (though...
