I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and the staff was really helpful and generous. I'm sure they can't do this for everybody, but they left her a complimentary bottle of champagne as a birthday gift, plus some nice birthday chocolates. They even helped me get a candle for the mini birthday cake I bought for her. They also... More

I love the amazingly hip restoration of this mid-century motor lodge! Great job! The staff is fun and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Beware, however, for those used to 21st Century sound deadening, this is a vintage property and so there is more noise than we're used to in newer construction. The hotel has a great policy to... If Europeans, touring rock bands, and adult fun don't bother you, then this is the hotel for you. The uptight shouldn't leave their homes anyway. I absolutely adore this hotel and staff. I am often in a large vehicle with precious belongings inside. Where can I park it overnight safely and at a bargain to lay my head too? The... More

This was definitely a happening place. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfy. It sounded like the bar/restauarant was the place to be but we were so tired we didn't have the chance to check it out. The noise definitely subsided and didn't go on all night. I was expecting some crazy artwork in the room,... More

The location isn't great, but not many in San Francisco really are. If you can stand the riff raff outside, you will have found your spot. It leans towards the younger clientele, but the FREE Parking, Warm Pool and complimentary wi-fi can be appreciated by anyone. Don't forget to ask for your free tattoo at the check-in desk.

I love this place. It's not trying to be uber cool but from soup to nuts I recommend the Phoenix for those who are City savvy, want a great value and are seeking a pleasant check-in, clean and spacious rooms and have a hankering for a swim to help soothe those tired muscles from a night out walking the city.... We stayed here as thej first stop on a 2 week road trip. Lovely, quirky hotel with a great restaurant on site. The rooms are comfy and clean , with everything you need, and the staff are very helpful. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant is very good - especially when you've been up for more than a day... More

Stayed here for work last visit in SF. I'm familiar with The Tenderloin neighborhood and I like the location when going to both the financial district and SOMA, but have never stayed there because I've felt that it can be a little sketchy- like get dropped off at door, get picked up is the only style I've went with when... We just love this little 50's Motel....It's in the Tenderloin District....but... you walk into the gate and it's a little Oasis! Lot's of musicians and artist have stayed there, so it's pretty hip & happening. We stay here every time we come to San Francisco for a Giant's game....the next day we do a touristy thing before going home. They... More
