If you're willing to make some sacrifices. Good: - location: right off Union Square, close to all shopping, restaurants, bars, cable cars, streetcars, etc. - relatively clean... keeping expectations in check. - affordable: about 25% of the price of a decent hotel in the area/ - staff: front desk and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. Bad: - it's... More

The people there are very helpful first and foremost. The location is awesome if you want a central location for which to take in the whole city. The rooms are really tight as I couldn't even plug in the iron and set up the iron board properly. I didn't notice the noise in my room on third floor facing parking... More

Great location just down from Union square. The hotel is old so there is no air conditioning, and the windows don't block any noise. We had a room on the street side and on the third floor. It was nice to be on the third floor so we could walk up, the elevator works, but it a little scary. But... More

This "cheap" hotel in the heart of San Francisco met our basic requirements - close to Union Square. The hotel looked old. The guy at the front desk when we checked in was polite. The room was as promised 2 beds. The ranking was based on the inside of the hotel and the room - when we were leaving and... More

Great location but shabby, tired condition of the hotel lets it down. Try to get a room at the back to avoid the noise that penetrates through the paper thin windows 24/7. To be fair the location of the hotel almost makes up for the lackluster hotel if you just plan to sleep there.

I stayed in SF for 4 nights and this was by far the cheapest hotel I could find. The location is great, just next to Union Square and the main transportation links. Excellent when you like to be close to the main attractions, and there's a huge variety of coffee shops and restaurants to choose from nearby. The room was... More

Okay, so this is by far the most run down place we have ever stayed in, but it did the job! It really depends on how long you're in SF for and what you're after. For us, we were driving into SF around 1-2pm and we were going to be heading for the airport around 5am the next morning. We... More

Elevator takes longer to get to the lobby then it took for our 6 floor walk up. At night the garbage was picked up every night at 12:55 am. From 6 flights up you could hear the man downstairs screaming obscenities as if he were yelling it in my own ear. Also the first night we found a used condom... More
