We think you can't have a better location in San Francisco....for food, drinks ,shops ,and walking around those beautiful streets south and north of Haight st. Very nice staff, clean rooms, clean washrooms, bad carpets ,good coffee downstairs but it would be nice if it would open at 8am. If you are a light sleeper, choose rooms in the back because... More

My husband and I love San Francisco and have stayed in the Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square and Chinatown areas. We always include a half day's visit to the Haight. This time we thought we would try staying there and give the area a thorough exploration. The Red Victorian is a once in a lifetime experience... the key word here is... More

My girlfriend Ali and myself just stayed at the Red Vic from Wednesday-Sunday, as I had a conference on the other side of town. The place did not feel like a hotel, it was like staying in a loving relatives home. The staff were extremely friendly, informative, and welcoming. The vibes were amazing. The art is very inspirational and breathtaking.... More

Well, first of all, I love San Francisco, and, my favorite haunt is the Haight-Ashbury area. I have stayed at the Red Vic multiple times, which means I obviously like it enough, I just feel like they could maybe do a little updating. Most of the rooms share several bathrooms located on the various floors. This is somewhat awkward, but... More

My boyfriend and I chose the Red Vic in the Haight & Ashbury neighborhood when we came up to San Francisco because we wanted a very warm, welcoming environment and that is exactly what we got! It is very quirky; all the rooms have different themes and were decorated by the Inn's owner, Sami. Sami also painted most of the... More

We wanted a real old time SF experience and we got it at the Red Vic and really felt we were part of the Haight for 3 days. Certainly not glamorous or the cutest B&B we have been to in our lives but the people working there were great, it was very interesting breakfast conversations led by Danielle who did... More

This place was fine to stay at, very simple. The room I stayed in was quiet. There is a creepy doll on the second floor of the building, but I guess it adds style to the place. It was kept pretty clean too. I had read about bed bugs, so I was a little nervous, but the bed had bed... More

All the rooms are themes. Some are quite basic with no en suite but I keep going back. You need to be in the mood for a commuunal experience but I especially like the shared breakfasts and chats

This place is a really old, huge Victorian in the heart of Haight. We chose this because it was the closest thing to UCSF that I could afford. The pictures make it look a little brighter than it actually is. My son and I stayed in the Poster room. It is on the second floor facing Haight St. so it... More

The location is key here. You could spend at least $100 *more* and stay downtown, but why? Staying here puts you right in the middle of the Haight with the rest of the city easily accessible via the MUNI N line. Walking distance of Golden Gate Park. What you should know though, is that this place is basic and quirky.... More
