Our cabin slept 6 and was bigger than I expected. It was almost clean, but the beds were squeaky and dirty. Better than camping, and someone had even stocked the fire grill with wood. The view and location are unbeatable, and we didn't have any interaction with the staff, as we arrived later than check in and just used our... More

This is camping in a cabin, but the location is probably the most awesome on Maui. Take your own sheets and cleaning supplies and shower thongs. Also take your own utensils to cook with and food. Just ignore the caretaker and take it all in stride, you will never sleep anywhere with this kind of natural music to go to... More

as you may have read in other reviews, beware of the caretacker's daughter, have all your permits in order and don't argue, you may end up looking for another lodging at 8pm. Cabins are good as cabins go, pretty basic but you're out of the rain, you have light and water! Waianapanapa is fabulous, well worth the stay.

The absolute most beautiful surroundings on the island. Black sand beach is a couple minutes walk along breath taking bluffs and views! cannot say enough about the park itself. (see review) That being said: The care taker is the rudest most unfriendly, miserable, unaccommodating person on the planet! the office was always closed. We were yelled at from a distance... More

All the guide books say this place is difficult to get in to.. I found it was easy (except you need to print your actual permit, I printed the receipt) But was able to pull the permit up on my I phone. They have changed the reservation system to an on line Hawaii State Park camping.. And you must reserve... More

The campgound itself is nice, the black sands beach just a few steps away and the sight is amazing. But the restrooms smell gross and they seem to limit the amount of toilet paper, the outdoor shower works but that's it and the caretaker is the unfriendliest person I've met in Hawaii so far! The office is always closed and... More

Wow! First off, this is an incredible deal at $90 per night. I wondered about it when booking since there were some really negative reviews here, but I found the cabin to be clean and better than tent camping. It's even got a microwave. It was the perfect place to stay on our adventure to Hana. Having the park to... More

It is a very spectacular experience if you're nature fan!! The views of the stars were such a great view when you'd cook your BBQ, or toast your marshmallows! My family and I got up to see the amazing sunrise and have the beautiful black sand beach to ourselves. The park there also has the best landscapes when hiking so... More

We just stayed in cabin #8 with our 4 kids. We had a wonderful 3 night vacation. I expected the cabin to not be the Ritz, but it impressed me. It was clean and dry. A huge upgrade from tent camping. We have a 7 year old, 4 year old and 8 month old twins. Our space had a backyard... More

VERY BEST! I have been camping with my family here 3 times and every time is better than the one before. I highly recommend this if you are on a family or couples vacationand have friends on island that you can borrow linens, kitchen basics and cleaning supplies from. Here's the deal-This is a State run facility that has only... More
