I travel a lot and may be the best place I've ever stayed in my life. The rooms are cottages tucked away in the rainforest, very private. Every morning we woke to the greenery surrounding us. We really liked the breakfasts, which are placed in your refrigerator the day before so you can heat them up when you want. It... More

We stayed two nights in the Mauna Loa room (the largest room). Our stay was wonderful. The room was spacious and had a small bedroom attached where we put our 18 month old so he could sleep without being disturbed (they let us borrow a pack 'n play and even included a baby robe to warm him after the shower).... Tamara, we woke up this morning to your glowing review of Volcano Village Lodge and we wanted to thank you for spending time at our lodge. Traveling with an 18 month old can be fun and exhausting. We are happy to hear that he rested comfortably during your stay. We are happy to hear that you and your little one... More

We stayed 3 nights and loved it. This is a very romantic and unusual setting with large windows that allows you to see the rainforest. Spend time in the morning to enjoy it before venturing out. If you sit out side on the deck Geno the cat will come visit and in the morning you see a couple of Pheasants.... More

My wife and I have always wanted to visit Hawaii and this was our first trip ever. When we researched the islands I decided that I wanted to visit the Volcano on the Big Island, Pearl Harbor on Oahu, and take a helicopter ride on Kauai. My favorite part of the entire vacation was staying at Volcano Village Lodge and... More

My husband and I came to Hawaii’s Big Island to celebrate our honeymoon and see a range of what this beautiful island has to offer. The Volcano Village Lodge did not disappoint. It was truly a welcomed retreat after spending a few nights in Waikoloa Village (large resorts with lots of kids). We were very pleased with how relaxing and... More

My husband and I often stay at the Halekalani on Oahu and at the Four Seasons on Maui. This year we came to the Big Island and wanted to spend time seeing the Volcano. Based on the TA reviews we made it a point to stay at the Volcano Village Lodge. We were pleased and I admit being a difficult... More

We absolutely loved this place and thought all the reviews are right on with the place being described as paradise in a rainforest. The Lodge is unique and captivating. The staff was amazing and helpful. We really enjoyed having breakfast in our room and found it peaceful and romantic. We had a rental car from Hilo and really suggest that... More

I agree with many of the reviewers that this is a special place. I also agree with the reviewer who described this as "camping." I have no doubt that it's the nicest place around but it is still rustic and in a (damp) rainforest. That being said, the bed is comfortable and the shower water is hot and plentiful, two... More

What a special place! Each bungalow-style room is nestled into the rain forest and feels very private. The grounds are very lush. We stayed in Haleakala. The room was lovely and comfortable. All the little extras made us feel very welcome. Slippers, robes, snacks, water, umbrellas, flashlights, coffee, tea, and breakfast are all provided. Breakfast was simple, but perfect to... More

It makes me sad to write this bad review, because we were so excited to stay here. Pros: it is a beautiful, serene forest setting and so close to Volcanoes National Park. We stayed in the larger unit called the Mauna Loa (we had our kids with us and needed the extra bedroom). The inside of the units were upscale... More
