I own a condo here and have since they converted from rental appartments. They have made few improvements. Some are dysfunctional such as the plastic no lock gates. They have a very nice pool but lousy and little furniture. People use the pool from the outside just because they can (not supose to). The noise level at night has improved... More

We purchased one of these condos 3 years ago for our daughter to attend the U of Hawaii. They were in the process of cleaning them and updating. Since then entire complex has been cleaned up, new appliances, new carpet, paint and full time security. I spent a month there this winter and it was very nice. It is close... More

The apartment complex is very pretty. But the people who live here create a very hostile and unsafe environment. The racism is very obvious too. My first day at the apartment, a woman next door left a very hateful note in the laundry room which was apparently meant for me. People here are home all day so they get into... More

I agree with all the other reviews, this is the worst dump in hawaii. Probably the worst conditions I have ever lived in at a horrible price! Everything is rotting and degrading and the people around here are the dregs of society. It's like living in downtown detroit. Avoid this place like it's the plague. Security guards and "locals" are... More

This used to be a beautiful hotel. The location is nice, but not when a tsunami is on the way. It is a high crime location with a lot of shady characters hanging around the bar. It is also low income (section 8) housing. Would recommend you look up the address in FamilyWatchDog.com do see who is living here. There... More

The condo was clean and well kept. There is security in the evenings and weekends. The grounds were pleasant and filled with numerous ponds throughout the property. The location was perfect for us, close to shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay!

My studio unit is clean & pleasant, I enjoy the ducks & geese, haven't seen any rats here & only a few small roaches. Hey, it's the tropics! Management & maintenance do a decent job of keeping the grounds tidy & amenities running smoothly. There is some noise at times, so I use earplugs or headphones, no biggie! Waiakea Villas... More

This place has both long term and overnight kind of place. Mostly it seems longer term on studio-or one bedroom apartments piled up on top and around eachother and all round a central court yard where a small pool fills with laughter in the afternoons when school lets out .... Think Hitchcock's "Rear Window" meets "Hawaii 5 0"....There is wildlife... More

Most people had it good when moving to big island.I did not.Initially a co-worker had let me stay at his place for a few days.Did not have enough time to find any apartment.Stayed at a insect ridden rat infested room in a house for severaly months, then decided enough was enough. Moved to Waiakea Villa. Not only is it more saner, but with... More

Aloha, I stayed at Waiakea Villas in Building 1 from June 04 to Feb 05 while by home was being built in Hilo. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Waiakea Villas & the local phone company allowed me to have a phone /DSL line installed prior to my arrival. There were no problems with the installation or... More
